Chapter 9 - Chapter 9. Mad Wheat Growth.

After Shen Xingyan determined the location for the well, a new message appeared in the Star Source world:

[Installation complete. Please water the field to help the seeds grow better!]

As expected, the Star Source world seemed to be teaching him step-by-step how to grow crops with these prompts, just like a novice guide.

When the message ended, a well the height of Shen Xingyan's knee appeared out of nowhere in the center of the approximately one mu (about 667 square meters) field.

Following the prompt, Shen Xingyan and the little skeleton approached the center of the plot and inspected the newly appeared well.

The well's style wasn't much different from what Shen Xingyan had imagined, but upon closer inspection, it was significantly different.

In reality, water in wells is hundreds of meters deep and must be extracted with pumps or primitive buckets on a rope. But the water in this well was right before Shen Xingyan's eyes, giving the impression that it was about to overflow.

With such a water level, it didn't take much effort to draw it, which significantly increased watering efficiency.

"The Star Source is quite thoughtful; this will save a lot of effort," Shen Xingyan muttered with satisfaction.

Without wasting any time, he took several buckets that appeared next to the well and, together with the skeleton, began to scoop up water and water the field of about one mu.

Surprisingly, the water level in the well did not drop despite their actions, remaining as full as it was at the beginning.

Shen Xingyan couldn't help but admire it: as expected from an item given by the Star Source, the well was as economical and practical as the rookie starter kit. Now he wouldn't have to worry about water for irrigation.

As instructed by Shen Xingyan, the little skeleton also got to work watering. Although its movements were slow, it was truly following Shen Xingyan's commands.

Like a tireless machine, the skeleton precisely performed the task assigned by its creator. Throughout the watering process, it worked at the same rhythm, showing no signs of fatigue.

"Indeed, there's no stamina stat for it, so it won't have any issues with fatigue. This advantage will help me a lot in the future when cultivating the land," Shen Xingyan noted with joy.

After all, tending to a field is a very painstaking task. After watering, once the seeds sprout, you'll need to fertilize, weed, fight pests, and perform a lot of other maintenance work.

All of this requires a lot of time, but now, with the help of the tireless little skeleton, it would be much easier for him.

Looking at the skeleton working relentlessly, Shen Xingyan couldn't help but smile contentedly. He thought to himself:

"The description of my innate skill clearly says that after a 24-hour break, I can summon a new skeleton. This means I'll have a helper every day. If I can finish all my tasks before the skeleton disappears, I'll have a lot more free time."

This thought filled Shen Xingyan with joy. Working with the skeleton would significantly reduce his labor time, giving him a considerable advantage over other farmers.

Watching the diligently working skeleton, clumsily carrying buckets of water, Shen Xingyan suddenly thought the skeleton looked rather cute. This was probably an expression of love for everything related to his beloved work.

If someone knew that Shen Xingyan found a pile of white bones cute, they would probably look at him strangely and think that the world is home to the most surprising eccentrics!

[Watering complete. Reward: one Novice Staff. Use it to activate your professional skill and accelerate crop growth.]

When Shen Xingyan and the little skeleton finished watering the plot, the voice of the Star Source rang in Shen Xingyan's ears again.

Hearing about the new reward, Shen Xingyan checked his inventory and saw that in the second slot, where there had only been a hoe before, there was now an item that looked like a wooden stick. Concentrating, he checked its stats:

Item: Novice Staff

Properties: Magical Attack +1

No level requirements, no durability limits.

A tool for applying professional skills.

Another item with no durability limits! Shen Xingyan hurried to equip it in the weapon slot, and the Novice Staff immediately appeared in his hand.

After playing with this, his first real weapon, for a bit, Shen Xingyan remembered Chu Wei. She had awakened the Mage profession, and he wondered what kind of power professional skills would have when unleashed with such a weapon.

For a moment, he imagined a fireball destroying a whole crowd of Monsters, then Shen Xingyan began to follow the instructions from the prompt. He stood in the center of the field and mentally activated his professional skill.

As soon as he thought of it, the power of Primal Energy, which he normally didn't even notice, began to circulate visibly within his body.

This sensation excited Shen Xingyan, who was experiencing it for the first time.

He had seen the wonders of Primal Energy countless times in textbooks and teacher demonstrations and had long dreamed of using this power himself.

Now, even though he was only using a skill from the Farmer profession, it didn't lessen his excitement at the chance to wield this power.

As the Primal Energy gradually concentrated in the staff in Shen Xingyan's hand, he lightly touched it to the ground. Instantly, an invisible aura began to spread within a 600-square-meter radius.

The appearance of this aura made the little skeleton instinctively take a step back. As an undead creature, it naturally felt an aversion to this aura of "life."

Although the skeleton felt some repulsion, upon discovering that the aura wasn't causing it any real harm, it stopped and stood quietly to the side.

Having completed the use of his professional skill, Shen Xingyan didn't immediately look at the field's condition but carefully felt the sensations from the ability he had just used.

From his point of view, the professional skill only accelerated the growth of crops by 10%, and on the freshly sown seeds, this effect would hardly be noticeable to the naked eye.

However, to his surprise, before he could even comprehend the path of the Primal Energy, his gaze was drawn to the rapidly appearing greenery around him.

As soon as he applied his professional skill, the freshly sown seeds began to grow as if by magic, as if a growth accelerator had been turned on. Soon, they reached a height above his knee, and only then did the growth stop.
