Chapter 17 - Chapter 17. Captain Wangcai.

Watching the two little skeletons diligently toiling in the wheat field, Shen Xingyan couldn't help but feel envious. These creatures with no stamina limits were simply perfect for the work!

Finishing his steamed bun, Shen Xingyan lay down at the edge of the field, slowly regaining his strength. Gazing at the serene sky of the Star Source world, he felt an unusual sense of peace and tranquility. Thoughts of his two powerful skills brought a smile to his face, and the feeling of happiness overwhelmed him so much that he unconsciously drifted off to sleep.

Soon, the icon above the wheat field disappeared, and Wangcai and the little skeleton returned to their sleeping master. The two little skeletons silently watched the motionless Shen Xingyan. Never having slept themselves, they didn't understand why their master was in such a state, and instinctively stood on either side of him, guarding his rest.

When a prompt icon appeared over the field again, Wangcai led the little skeleton back to the field. After all, Shen Xingyan had given them a clear order: as soon as an icon appears over the field, they must perform the corresponding task.

Each time, upon completing a task, the two skeletons would return to Shen Xingyan, only to find him still sleeping. This scene repeated itself over and over until a light breeze from the Star Source world brushed against Shen Xingyan's face, waking him from his slumber.

Waking up, Shen Xingyan realized he had actually fallen asleep. He shot his eyes open, a flash of panic in them, and quickly checked the time—more than three hours had passed!

He hastily jumped to his feet and rushed to check the field, mentally scolding himself: How could I fall asleep? How irresponsible! I just felt hope because of my powerful skills and immediately relaxed. This won't do!

Fortunately, there was only one watering icon hanging over the field, not several at once, which allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief. Obviously, while he was resting, the two skeletons had continued to work according to his instructions.

It's a good thing I gave them basic instructions beforehand; otherwise, my nap would have cost me a considerable amount of copper coins! Shen Xingyan thought with relief.

Stretching his body, stiff from sleeping, he was about to join the work in the field when he noticed that the icon had disappeared and the two skeletons were slowly approaching him.

Looking at the two little skeletons, as if they had just climbed out of a mud pit, Shen Xingyan found them incredibly endearing and obedient. He carefully wiped the dirt from their skulls, unable to suppress a smile.

Although they were his summoned beings, obligated to follow his commands, Shen Xingyan didn't see them that way. Perhaps their diligence reminded him of his own Farmer profession, or perhaps some subtle connection existed between them, causing him to feel a sense of closeness.

"Work hard, and your master won't let you down. When I have the money, I'll even buy you clothes," Shen Xingyan said with a smile.

Looking at the two skeletons, so similar yet slightly different, Shen Xingyan pondered a problem that would arise in the future: how to tell the skeletons apart when there were more of them? He also considered how to organize their work. After all, he couldn't have all the skeletons rushing to complete a task in a mob as soon as an icon appeared.

While that approach might work, it seemed too chaotic. Imagine a hundred skeletons all working on one mu of land at the same time—not to mention the efficiency, just the clatter of their colliding bones would create an unbearable noise!

Pondering this, Shen Xingyan's attention returned to Wangcai. After all, the first skeleton had brought him the most surprises. If it could teach a new skeleton how to work, then maybe it could also help manage the whole team?

Shen Xingyan decided it was worth a try. If it didn't work, he would have to experimentally determine the optimal number of skeletons for each plot and distribute them personally.

With his profession leveling up in the future, he would be able to expand his land holdings for money, and then the excess labor would find a use. But that was a backup plan.

"Wangcai, from now on, this little skeleton is under your command. You are now Captain Wangcai, and I am entrusting you completely with the care of this plot. In the future, I will be adding new members to your team. Work hard; your prospects are limitless!" Shen Xingyan patted Wangcai on the shoulder bone, placing a great responsibility on it.

Looking at the motionless Wangcai, Shen Xingyan didn't know if it understood his intentions. But he wasn't in a hurry—after all, since he only had two skeletons, he could just try it out.

If this method worked, in the future he could completely hand off all agricultural work to the skeletons. All he would have to do is log into the Star Source world daily to use his two skills, without wasting time on other matters.

This would allow him to focus more on training in the real world. After the Star Source appeared, almost all those who successfully awakened a profession spent the maximum available time in the virtual world, returning to reality only to rest. They had very little time left for training.

For them, a long stay in the Star Source world meant not only leveling up their profession but also earning more money, which made it easier to transfer items from the virtual world to the real one.

Shen Xingyan's situation was the opposite. As the number of skeletons increased, his role in tending the fields would decrease, so it made sense to train in the real world.

Although the effect of training in reality couldn't compare to the benefits of combat professions, which leveled up quickly, earned money, and could transfer professional skills to the real world, at this stage, it was all he could do. If he couldn't rely on combat skills, he had to rely solely on his body.

Shen Xingyan couldn't help but dream that one day, when he became rich enough, he would be able to, just like those with combat professions, acquire expensive real-world stat points and fulfill his dream—to go beyond the base and destroy Catastrophes.
