Chapter 13 - I must be dreaming

Rosella

I awoke to a splitting headache and slowly opened my eyes to a dimly lit room. The smell of bleach was overwhelming, making my headache worse. I groaned and gently looked around the unfamiliar room.

"Where am I? " I muttered as I struggled to keep my eyes open.

I had remembered running away from Madam Ruth in the hope of escaping, but instead, I had been hit by a car. I should be dead, but somehow I was alive because I know the paradise doesn't exactly look like this, nor does it smell like a hospital.

"What is this place?" I whispered, attempting to move my hands, but they felt heavy, and it took a loud groan and clenching of my jaw to move a finger.

"You shouldn't move," A voice muttered beside me.

I blinked and yawned lightly. My eyes were half closed, and even though the voice sounded familiar, like the Beast King's, I wanted to believe it wasn't him.

There was no way he would ever be in the same room as me, and I did not want to see him either. "Do not raise your hands," the voice warned, and I felt it again.

The sense of familiarity. I wanted to believe it wasn't him because I couldn't see him clearly. If he wasn't the one, then who could it be? Out of curiosity, I fluttered my eyes open, and the first thing I saw was a pair of worried blue eyes staring back at me. "A… Alpha king?" I muttered.

Why did I think it was never going to be him?

"How are you?" he asked as he sat beside me, then placed his hand on my forehead.

At first, a frown spread across my face, and I wanted to slap his hand off. But then, with a single touch from his warm hand, the terrible headaches I felt earlier began to wear off. I didn't expect that, and even though I was supposed to hate it, I liked the feeling of his hand on my forehead.

"If you need anything, let me know," he whispered, though I could barely hear him because I was focused on his hand on my forehead.

My eyes widened in shock because it felt as if I had heard him wrong. Did he ask that after what he had put me through the past few days?

I must have heard wrong.

"You must be hungry. I already asked them to bring you food," he said with a concern I had not expected.

I thought this must be a dream as I blinked, hoping that he would disappear, but he was still there, his hand on my forehead and staring at me with concern.

"Where did you bring me?" I asked, instinctively knowing I was in a hospital because of the sharp smell of bleach, the bed I lay in, and the IV attached to my arm. Yet I was curious how I had survived the accident and which hospital he had brought me to.

"You are in the Royal Hospital," Damian answered.

I frowned. The name brought back bad memories. They had let my father die by neglect because he was human. The Royal Hospital had caused his death, along with countless others.

And here I was, lying comfortably on a bed, untouched by the horrors of the past. I hated it. It made me feel like a hypocrite, and I couldn't stand it anymore.

"I can't stay here!" I shouted, yanking the IV from my hand. Even though it hurt like hell, it was better than being in a room with Damian.

"What the hell are you doing?" He rushed toward me when he saw the blood on my hand. "Are you crazy?" he shouted. "Why are you hurting yourself?" He stretched his hand toward me, but I slapped it away and tried to stand.

I fell to the ground, groaning in pain. My hand went to my aching head, and I noticed the bandage. It was the same for my ankle wrapped in a bandage, but the pain didn't stop me from trying to stand up.

Beads of sweat appeared on my forehead, trailing down my face. "I don't want to be here. This is not…" I groaned as I hurriedly rushed towards the entrance, but suddenly my vision blurred and the pain in my body intensified. The room doubled before, and slowly I fell towards the ground.

Damian caught me in time, wrapping his arms around my tiny waist."You are the craziest person I have ever met," he muttered.

"You… Damian," I muttered before blacking out in his arms.
