ROMEO'S POV
Where did this guy go? He made me eat lunch alone for the first time in a while.
"Are you looking for me?", I heard someone say behind me. I already knew who it was.
"Where did you go?", I asked turning to look at him.
"I was with Lucille, you really have to listen to her. I don't think she tried committing suicide", Xander said to me.
"You don't understand Xander, I finally told her I love her and she disappears", I replied with slight anger.
"I understand you, you feel she ghosted after you confessed love to her. You missed her, you're angry she didn't answer your calls or reply to your messages. You're also mad at yourself because she was hurting and you didn't notice", Xander said angrily.
I run out of words, that was exactly how I was feeling. How did he know? I stared at him in amazement.
"You know Lucille, she loves you! Why would she ghost after you finally told her you love her too? Think Romeo, there's clearly a reason for everything that happened", he added but this time in a calmer tone.
"Okay, you have a point. I'll talk to her after school hours", I answered.
He said nothing else and walked away, I followed him. He looked very sad, is there something I'm missing. He seems to know so much about Lucille.
"Were you guys best friends?", I asked him.
"No", he answered lazily.
"You seem to know a lot about her", I said and he smiled.
"I'm just observant", he answered raising an eyebrow and I knew he wouldn't answer any of my questions again, so I just kept mute.
We met Lucille on our way to class, I know I said I'd talk to her but I can't look at her without feeling pain and anger.
She stopped in her tracks and I knew she was waiting to talk to me. I wasn't ready, when we got closer to her, she stretched her hands to hold mine but I pulled away and walked pass her.
"I promise I'd talk to you after school hours Lucille, it's just difficult to look at you right now", I said to myself and entered the class.
I sat down and realized Xander wasn't with me, he entered shortly with Lucille right behind him.
"Did you stop to talk to her?", I asked after he had sat down.
"You weren't expecting me to also walk pass her like that, were you?", he asked and I could tell my question irritated him.
The class was a long boring one, the only thing that kept me awake was Lucille. I couldn't stop looking at her.
When school was over I hurried to my car and drove to her house. I didn't want to have my conversation with her in the school, I was sure some things she'd say would be personal.
I heard a knock on the window of my car and woke up suddenly, damn it! I fell asleep.
I turned to look outside the car and it was Lucille knocking. I quickly got out of the car to meet her.
"What brings you here", she asked.
"I want to listen to your explanation", I responded.
"Calm inside lets talk, it's cold outside", she replied.
Am I sick? It's literally hot outside what's she even saying. I followed her to the house.
"Are you royalty?", I asked clearly amazed by the structure in front of me.
"No I'm not, I wish I was though. Why do you ask?", she said laughing.
"This looks like a castle", I said pointing to the house.
I was reluctant to enter the house and she noticed, "no one is home", she said.
"Can we just sit by pool?", I asked pointing to the enormous pool beside the house.
"Okay sure", she replied.
After a moment of silence, I spoke.
"What happened?", I asked her.
"I took an overdose of my drugs but it wasn't intentional", she said and I kept quiet.
"My parents are having a divorce, their blaming each other for the death of my brother. I was taking my drugs when I heard them quarreling. I forgot I had taken enough already and took more. I went to bed after and woke up in the hospital.", she added teary.
I hugged her and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry for how I behaved", I said still hugging her.
She pulled from the hug and smiled, "thanks for understanding Romeo, thanks for caring about me", she added.
LUCILLE'S POV
I had no plans of going to school the next day, but I had to see Romeo, he's my source of joy and happiness.
Also, I heard my mom talking to a fashion company, they would be coming to the school to sign models for their new collection.
I got prepared for school and was surprised to see Romeo outside the house when I got out.
"Get inside, I'll be your personal chaffer today", he said to me.
I sat in the car and as usual he helped me with the seatbelt. I smiled at him and he smiled too.
We got to school shortly and the morning lesson began. In the middle of the class, four people along with my mom walked in. They were from the fashion company.
Romeo was part of the people who applied to be part of the models, they came to announce he was selected and to introduce a new student of our class, Cassandra Wood.
"Congratulations guy, I knew you'd be selected", Xander said for the hundredth time while we were having lunch.
"I'll stone you to death if you congratulate me again", Romeo said and we burst into laughter.
"I didn't know you applied", I said.
"Oh he didn't, I applied for him", Xander replied.
"Hey, you're Romeo right?", Cassandra said sitting next to Xander.
"Yeah I am", Romeo replied before taking a sip of the juice he was holding.
"My mom wants to have a word with you", she added.
"Why would your mom want to have a word with him?", I asked.
"I wasn't talking to you", she replied. "She's in the proprietors office, let's go", she added looking at Romeo.
I rolled my eyes, she's so annoying gosh! I don't think we'd ever get along. Romeo kissed me on the cheek and left.
"Don't be bothered by her Lucille", Xander said after they left.
ROMEO'S POV
"You were mean to her you know", I said to the girl beside me.
"I wasn't talking to her, is she your girlfriend?", she asked.
"It's complicated Cassandra", I replied clearly irritated.
"Cassie, call me Cassie, Cassandra is too long", she said holding my hands.
I pulled away from her, "what are you doing?", I asked.
"Are you allergic to human touch?", she asked.
I shook my head, she's something else. I know having her around is just going to give me headache.
I walked faster so she wouldn't walk with me but she suddenly began to jog.
"Why are you walking so fast, you're making me run", she asked breathing heavily.
I had no plans to talk to her, I didn't slow down either. She fell suddenly and began to cry.
"You're so stubborn gosh!", I said lifting her up from the floor.
I helped her sit when we arrived at the office. Cassandra's mom is the CEO of the fashion company I was going to be modeling for.
After signing some papers I stood up to leave when I heard someone call my name.
"You seem to be a gentleman, I'm leaving my daughter in your care. She has no friends here so please keep her around you", Cassandra's mom said.
"Okay, I'll try", I said and walked out.
