Chapter 3 - 3 THE BURGAR SHOP ENCOUNTER (ii)

With this Alpha Logan exits the dining area. Kyle also stands up after finishing his meal, ready to leave, before he is stopped by his mother.

"Kyle darling, wait a minute please "

"Mom, I need to prepare for my afternoon meeting with Alpha Lucas"

"So you can't spare your mother a minute of your time"

"Okay Mom, but let's talk somewhere else, away from some eager ears"

Arianna pouts childishly at Kyle's statement knowing he was referring to her. Kyle and Luna Selene move to a deserted area where she holds his hand as she speaks to him tenderly.

"Kyle, hope you are not annoyed with your father?"

Kyle sighs understanding his mother's question.

"I know you did everything to avoid the Luna selection ceremony, but your father and I hope you find a Luna sooner since hopes of a fated mate are not forthcoming."

"I know Mom, I understand your concerns."

"Then will you agree to go along with the Luna selection ceremony?"

"I can't give a definite answer but I assure you I will do what's best for the pack."

Luna Selene nods, satisfied with his reply. She stands on her toes and kisses his cheek fondly.

"Arianna should have left for school now, you go prepare for your afternoon meeting."

"Yes, mother."

Kyle walks back in the direction of his room. His room is painted a rich navy blue, and a luxurious, large leather-upholstered bed is situated in the middle. A wooden mahogany desk and a comfortable chair are placed against the wall. Trophies and symbols of pack accomplishments are arranged on the desk. A small shelf is next to his desk where Arianna's childhood drawings, a photo of the family and a trinket she gave him were kept.

Kyle got comfortable in his chair and went over the contract proposal of Alpha Lucas. He carefully reviewed it, as he is aware that Alpha Lucas is a cunning Alpha known for cutting corners. His demeanour is that of a future Alpha.

Axel walks in later on smiling playfully.

"Forgotten how to knock?"

"Nah, I just have a hobby of invading your privacy."

"Now I need my privacy, I need to shower"

"Well, we are both men, what could possibly happen?"

"A lot, now if you don't want to be thrown out..."

"You wouldn't dare", Axel interrupted, eyeing Kyle, who swiftly stood up. He grabs hold of Axel's collar, opens the door, and flings him out.

Axel hurriedly gets up on his feet as the doors close. The guards at the door glance at each other and try to suppress a laugh. Axel quickly adjusts his collar, glances at the two guards and leaves embarrassed.

A few hours later, Kyle walks out. He is dressed in a dark green suit with a black shirt underneath. He exudes the supremacy and dominance of a future Alpha.

Axel throws him a hurt look and walks ahead.

In front of the pack house, a 911 GT3 RS sports car is packed. Kyle enters and sits at the owner's side while Axel sits next to the guard driver, still sulking. The car engine roars to life and drives off.

"Do you have another copy of the contract proposal?" Kyle asked.

"Yes," Axel replies shortly.

"Still angry?"

"I'm not."

"You're so petty

"I am not petty," Axel replied, with emphasis.

Kyle chuckled but said nothing.

"I landed with my ass, y'know."

"Serves you right", Kyle replied as he chuckled again at Axel's not-so-angry face.

After some time, they arrive at the burger place. A huge signboard read "Pasteline burgers"

"We've arrived Kyle."

Kyle's eyes suddenly narrow, and his mouth twitches. The scent hit him like lightning in a storm—wild black current, dark cherries with something beneath, something softer, like rain-soaked petals and cool warmth that he didn't know he needed. It pulled him—fierce and fragile, like danger wrapped in layers of overwhelming comfort.

Kyle hurried out of the car with Axel following close behind. It was coming from the burger shop—the smell of mate, his wolf was already on edge and giddy. He walked inside, the smell now stronger, and Kyle didn't need to look too long before he found her. There she was, with her black hair, which had streaks of silvery white, that reflected her pureness let down in waves.
