Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 God’s Coming

Sorry for taking so long to drop a chapter. I got caught up in watching anime.

Been wondering if simple words and straighforward writing was good or not.

***********************************************

"Aaaahhh!"

"No! Please, no—!"

"Somebody—help me! Hel—gghhkkh!"

"GrrraaaAAAHHHH!"

"Run! Run!" Someone bellowed.

The streets—no, the whole station was in chaos.

People running for their lives, pushing each other into the kabane's clutches just to give themselves more time.

It's only been a few minutes—not even 5 since the train carrying the kabane slammed into the station's entrance.

But the damages are astronomical.

"…Hm?"

In the sky, 50 meters above ground floating was Kaelis valeblade.

As soon as the explosion rang out and hearing screams, he took to the skies to observe what was happening.

What he has witnessed left him speechless and further cemented that these kabane's are not your run-of-the-mill zombies.

Some of these ones are extremely fast, with the rest taking their time.

"The people of this world drew the short end of the stick. In all the zombie types to get… they got the 'world war z' zombies, he."

If it had been the regular, slow crawling zombies, they might not be in the type of mess they are now but…

Hmm. He looked to his left and what he witnessed made him draw a cold breath.

"Hhh…hhh…hhhh—"

A woman running from a female kabane. At close glance it would seem like there is quite a distance between them…

However… The kabane broke it in a sprint. 'Fast.'

And began doing parkour—dodging and weaving before catching up to the woman and mauling her.

'Yep… short end of the stick alright.' He sighed before continuing to observe the rampage.

'I wonder where that kid from before went.'

The Kid, Ikuma, had left his cage when the guards overseeing the place ran.

'Well… He's probably dead by now anyway.'

He began flying around to other areas getting overrun by kabanes and to see how they're doing…

…There was not much difference in the other areas either. The kabanes sure work fast.

It did not help that their numbers are rapidly increasing. The virus works no different from regular zombie viruses.

One bite or a simple scratch it seems.

BANG-BANG-BANG!

Kaelis reached an area where he saw a small girl, roughly between 13-15, dancing around a horde of zombies.

"What is she doing? Shouldn't a young girl like her be hugging her parents and crying right now?" He questioned no one in particular.

He saw her dove straight into a swarm.

A Kabane lunged, but she cut its head off in one motion.

She kicked the head into the air, letting the others chase it for a moment.

Without stopping, she climbed the building and leapt across the wreckage pretty quickly.

Her pistols cracked—bang, bang, bang—each shot hitting a heart and dropping a Kabane instantly.

She didn't waste a bullet.

Every movement was quick, and precise. Where she passed, a Kabane fell.

She turned back and shouted, "Get the train ready! Move while you can!"

Then she rushed ahead again, clearing a path through the monsters so the others could escape.

At that, Kaelis now noticed people a few paces behind her. They seem to be wealthy people.

"!"

Depending on a little girl to save your asses got to be one of the most deballed activities a man can do.

Seeing as their goal was the train, he decided to give the girl a little help.

Vwoom!

The air crackled and glowing blades—no less than a hundred swords of all shapes, sizes and colors appeared mid air, humming with energy.

The light from them illuminating the whole area.

The girl was immediately distracted, luckily the kabane as well giving her time to jump onto a nearby building.

The running survivors stopped for a moment to take in the spectacle.

The crowd went still, even the kabanes.

Mouths fell open, words dying in throats.

For a long breath, no one moved.

The glow painted their faces in gold and white, eyes wide and unblinking.

No one spoke at first.

The sheer weight of the scene pressed on them, crushing the air out of their lungs.

A soldier dropped his gun, the sound sharp against the frozen awe.

Some clasped their hands over their mouths, gasping.

Others stumbled back, nearly tripping over themselves, as if putting a little space between them and the impossible sight would somehow keep them safe.

"W-what the hell…?!"

"Are those… swords?"

"Hun…dreds…"

"Impossible…"

A child tugged on his mother's sleeve, pointing upward with trembling fingers. "Mama… it's like stars."

Even those hardened soldiers who witness death on a daily basis could do nothing but stare, their hearts pounding with a mixture of fear and reverence.

"Well then… shall we begin the slaughter." His voice rang out, triggering the horde to run towards the sound of his booming voice.

Vrrrrrmmm

All hundred blades began vibrating with deep ominous thrumming as if they were being changed.

A second later, the blasted off at speeds far exceeding what the naked eye could follow.

The swords shot off all at once, tearing through the air so fast it was like the world couldn't keep up.

Hundreds of them streaked forward, cutting through the Kabane like they weren't even there.

Limbs flew, heads tumbled, and the monsters didn't even have a chance to fight back.

Everyone else just froze. People stumbled backward, mouths open, hearts pounding.

Kids clung to their parents, women gasped, men dropped their weapons.

No one could believe what they were seeing.

The swords screamed through the air—fshhh!—and the sound rattled the ground.

The Kabane didn't even get a chance to make a proper noise; they just got shredded in an instant.

Some survivors couldn't move, some held their breath, and some just dropped to their knees, shaking.

When it was over, there was silence.

Only the occasional clatter of fallen metal and ragged sobs of the people who had been watching filled the air.

For the normal, everyday people seeing kabane was the most supernatural occurrence in the world.

Seeing flying swords cutting through their enemy that they fear so much had made them question their sanity a bit.

After witnessing what might as well be god's coming, nobody would forget what they'd just seen.
