Chapter 43 - Gaining a bit of knowledge.

Within the quiet darkness of night, inside of a study room, rows of shelves are placed along the room's four walls.

Each shelf was stacked with numerous books—so much so, books lying on the floor, stacking each other in a mess.

In the center of the study, a person could be seen seated at a table fully focused on the book placed in front of him.

This person is Kaelis…

He had come right after Deus had taken Bell to bed and had been reading for the past eight hours now.

Reading the books on the history of this world to gain a better understanding of it.

For some reason, ever since he first got reincarnated, he could always communicate with residents of other worlds.

He could always read and be able to understand the texts written and be able to write on his own.

Though, it seems to only work with the most common language spoken in that world.

Any other special languages would have to be learnt if he wanted to.

Though he finds it peculiar, you will not find him complaining.

"So the gods first came a thousand years ago huh. And they said their purpose was to give aid against the monsters… seems bogus."

I mean… they seemed to be doing fine before they came. Though few might've died—that's unavoidable seeing as they are still dying now anyway.

…Maybe there's something interesting down here. So much so that they sealed their divinity—wait, arcanum.

Could've just called it divinity. No need to try to be different.

Anyway, it's either that or they're just bored—I don't got a clue.

He could sit there all night trying to understand the thoughts behind the gods actions and still wouldn't come to a solid conclusion.

Even still, if there was something interesting down here and they came for it but they're still here… doesn't that mean it's still here? He wondered.

Hee-hee-hee~ I'mma try and get my hands on it before they do.

But then, it's stated in the book that they are omniscient—credited to them probably.

Shit! I'm straying off course just to try figuring out these gods… Amazing!

Collecting his thoughts, he began to wonder about how the heroes from before 'The age of gods.'

From the descriptions, they are definitely ones to be admired for their tenacity.

Without this falna thingy, they managed to do what these new age, hand-fed adventurers can barely hold a candle to.

According to the few books he red about heroes from those times, they managed to break their own limits and fought tooth and nail against monsters.

Especially that one, Albert, was it…

Kaelis glanced over at a pile of books and the one on top, a book titled "The legends of Albert."

Kaelis was never one for hero stories as they usually follow the generic pull of a sword, saving a beauty and slaying the bad guy.

But this one. Boy oh boy. It was fantastic!

Against a monster that's said to be unbeatable, backed by it still existing even now, Albert managed to destroy one of its eyes.

Now, you might be saying "but author… that's not something to be proud about."

While you might be right, you got to remember, 10 years ago, the 2 most powerful familias led by both Zeus and Hera were filled with new age heroes who were hand fed by gods, got wiped out.

By the same dragon, one man was damaged 'severely.'

Quite a disappointment if you ask me. The same could be said for Kaelis. For he too was disappointed

Speaking of orario, Kaelis red up on that place too.

He heard Deus talking about it before and got curious.

People say Orario is the only place where someone can go from nobody to legend in a single lifetime.

It's commonly referred to as the center of the world or labyrinth city depending on which book you red.

Not because of geography, but because it is the only city built directly above the Dungeon, the deepest and most mysterious structure known to exist.

As it's above the dungeon itself, it's the most alluring city for adventures and all merchants hoping to get in on the great cash flow due to the magic stones.

"I'll have to visit there sometime after I finish training the kid. Though we might go together depending on when he decides to go."

He continued flipping pages of a hero book, looking for something interesting.

"…Though I do wonder… how come there are no races that resembles the Veyl'korr?"

There are a total of seven races in this world recorded by the text books—humans, elves, dwarves, Demi-humans, the Amazonian and those spirits.

He does not know why the people of this world bothered separating the Demi-humans into different categories like cat-people, boar-people and all that when at the end of the day, they are all humans with animal features.

"Seems kind of over-productive if you ask me." Was what he said.

And they all seem to be different from what they are in his home world too except for the humans.

Take elves for example…

In this world, elves are nature loving, prideful and have a knack for strong traditions.

Where he comes from, elves are nearly the total opposite.

They chased technological advancement so much that they cut down the great tree and burned the spirit forest their ancestors protected just to harvest materials for research.

Which resulted in nature abandoning them and having their long lives being cut down from the average ten thousand all the way down to a measly five hundred.

And then there were the dwarves. Giant—docile beings who won't even lift a finger to burn a sole.

The name itself hailed from human mockery because they lived underground in caves and are called "little brothers" and "little sisters" by the spirits.

They couldn't even tell you how alcohol tastes if it's even to save their life.

Truly a confusing world for any outsiders…

So in this new world he is in now, Kaelis is gonna have trouble adjusting.

"Haaaa!" He sighed dramatically, leaning back enjoying the silence that followed.

I wonder if the elven race's language has power…I guess I'll have to find out later.

It seems he has truly leaned into the life of being eternal and unending.

While spending five years doing nothing would be inconceivable to short lived people, for Kaelis and the eternal beings called gods, it's no different from yesterday.

Time passed and the sun just lifted its head past the mountains.

The sound of footsteps could be heard as Kaelis saw Deus walk past the door frame.

"Good morning to you, old man."

"…? Oh, Kaelis. Good morning to you as well. Up all night?"

Deus stopped at the door peering in. It looks like he just woke up.

"Yea. Been reading up on some things." Kaelis said casually.

Looking at the opened book in front of the young man. Deus instantly became wide awake.

"You mean hero stories? Hahahaa…!"

Kaelis didn't answer, just quietly brushed the book aside.

"Well…" the old man continued. "Bell's still asleep and should be awake soon. I'll go wash up and prepare breakfast before heading to the farm!" He then left for the kitchen.

After a couple minutes of silence, Kaleis heard noise coming from Bell's room.

Leaving the study, he made way for the living as he intersected Bell about to start his new morning routine and joined him.

Finally, back inside a large patch of dirt area in the forest, two young men.

"The same as yesterday. We'll start with squats—four sets of twenty-five, a hundred total. Then we move on to stance work."

Chapter 43 end.
