I—Riko Jackson—was on my way to the principal's office with a furious expression.
I had just finished homeroom and luckily had no class to teach for now, so I had to deal with this pressing issue.
As I was walking there, I took quick strides, and many thoughts went through my head.
How is he still here?
Why did Father acknowledge him?
How did he escape expulsion?
What's going on?
I couldn't fathom why Nakamura Eiya—a rapist—was still in this school. If it were any other crime, I could overlook it, but it was rape—something I couldn't overlook.
But what if I'm wrong? He looked rather innocent; can he really do something like this?
As that thought ran through my mind, something clicked, as if to say, "Yes, Nakamura really could do such a crime despite that innocent look."
I mean, he had no issue holding my collar—the collar of his homeroom teacher.
I thought he was faking when he did that and couldn't go through with something like that, but no, he fooled me and also Father.
It seems Father made a mistake, but could Father really make such a mistake?
To be honest, I don't know. I don't know anything right now. Nothing feels real—no, I do know something.
Suzuki Aiya must be avenged, and Nakamura Eiya must be expelled even if it's the last thing I do.
I finally arrived at the principal's office, and I burst in without even knocking.
"I'll call you when I'm done."
The person who stood before me was my father, the chairman or the director of Tokyo Metropolitan Elysian High School—EHS for short.
Father was sitting on a chair talking with the principal before sending him away.
"F-Father?"
"Riko, what are you doing here?"
Despite his words, he seemed to have expected that I would come.
"I wanted to talk to the principal."
"Then why don't you talk to me?" he said with a grin.
"Uh… Okay," I said, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I wanted to ask why a student of my class wasn't expelled."
"You're referring to Nakamura Eiya, right?"
"Yes," I replied. "He raped someone and is still in this—"
"Do you truly believe he did that?" he asked. "I thought I taught you better than that."
"B-But—"
I couldn't finish the sentence. I knew Nakamura was innocent; it was obvious but I still…
"At any rate his expulsion has been annulled."
"But why?"
"Riko, you know better than to question me," his voice went cold, and he shot me a glare.
"Y-Y-Yes, sir. I'm sorry for the intrusion."
I bowed and left the principal's office. In the end I didn't get what I wanted; in fact, I did the opposite, and it made Father angry.
But what makes Nakamura so important that his expulsion can be annulled?
Why him? Why is it him that gets Father's attention? Why?
