Chapter 25 - Demon Who Live Underwater

Dravin scratched his un-itchy temple and approached Freya, who remained glaring at him.

"How did you get here?" he asked carefully.

"I told you to call me, yet you were silent for six days. When I went to your apartment, you weren't there.

But your cute neighbor told me you were busy renovating your restaurant. She gave me the block, and it was strange seeing workers from the NuLife quarters roaming this building.

Then I'm certain you built this as part of the NBS' mission."

Dravin nodded along as Freya complained, stepping backward occasionally because she was moving forward as if she meant to devour him alive.

"Are you looking down on me?" she pressed.

Dravin avoided her piercing gaze. God, why did this woman feel so terrifying? And what did Rubby say? She's an angel? A death angel?

He shook his head. "You told me to contact you when I was ready to move on the mission, right? I haven't started the mission yet.

I'm still busy managing this building, and I planned to call you when everything was set. I just didn't want to bother you." Dravin attempted to persuade her.

Of course, he couldn't admit he had actually forgotten about her entirely due to his excitement over building the restaurant.

"Do you think I would believe that?" She was still glaring fiercely.

Naturally, Freya wouldn't be easily convinced. Dravin had expected it. She kept stepping forward, forcing Dravin's heel to hit a chair.

Wait… I didn't actually do anything wrong, did I?

Dravin straightened his posture. "But what I said is true, isn't it? We work together once the demon is ready to be expelled after the Pleasure Index reaches 20% or more.

Why do you sound so angry? And why did you come to my apartment anyway? Did you need something important?"

Her gaze looked hesitant.

"No. It's just weird that you were so quiet when you said you'd be visiting targets one by one." Freya pouted and turned, walking back toward the outdoor area.

"Ah… so you were waiting for my call?" He yelped.

"Why would I? I'm too busy myself." Freya dragged her chair and sat down again.

Dravin snorted. He truly didn't understand Freya's mood swings. Is she hungry?

It seemed they could only speak smoothly when Freya was eating. But right now, he had nothing to offer.

Ding!

The Demon is hiding in Cheetoo Lake underwater. She is struggling to recapture it because she possesses fire elemental abilities and is weak around water.

You can buy C-Rank Demon Lure tools in the ShopaLyfe and use it to help the demon surface so she can catch it.

Rewards: Adding 0.05% system progression and 200,000 Goldin

Would you accept this mission?

If yes, you have 3 hours to complete it. If you succeed within the time frame, you will get double rewards. If you fail to complete it within the time, you will get nothing.>

Huh? Is this why she came looking for me? To ask for help?

I can choose? Dravin asked inwardly.

[That's because it's a C-Code Mission. You can accept or reject C and D code missions, but you must do it if it's an A or B code mission.]

Ah, so that's the meaning of the task code. Dravin pursed his lips, considering the new mission. It offered little progression but a lot of money. Should he accept it?

He approached Freya in the outdoor space and pulled up a chair at her large umbrella table.

"Did you come to see me to ask for my help?" he asked.

"Forget it. I forgot why the hell I even came to your apartment." Freya was still sulking.

Dravin took a deep breath. It was pointless not to be blunt with her.

"I can help you. There is a way to catch that C-Rank water demon." He offered.

She looked stunned, her jaw clenched in alert as she waited for Dravin's next words.

"But… Can you change your tone when you talk to me?" he continued with a teasing smirk.

She turned away, frowning. "I don't need your help."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I don't want to receive help from the bully system." Her voice was cold as ice.

"Why do you hate the system so much? It's the one that gave the way to catch it."

Freya didn't reply, her eyes fixed on the street below with a pensive stare. Dravin didn't intend to press further.

Dravin then stood up, turning to leave, trying to goad Freya.

"Fine then. I won't lose anything if I decline this mission either. Enjoy your stay." He started to walk away.

Freya bit her lower lip as she heard the sound of Dravin's shoes receding.

It hurt her pride that her guidance told her to ask Dravin for help.

Even worse, when she finally decided to suppress her pride, she found out Dravin was planning something big without notifying her.

She felt like a side dish when her role in the mission was supposed to be the main course.

But she had no choice. If she didn't bring back the capsule containing this C-Rank demon tonight, she would lose points.

"Dravin!" She yelled loudly. "I can't change how I speak. This is just how I am. I don't even know why you get bothered by my tone. But… I can do something for you instead." she explained.

Dravin's brow shot up as he turned back to Freya. The stern woman's expression looked like she had swallowed her pride whole.

"Do something? What could you possibly do for me?" Dravin teased.

He honestly didn't know what Freya could offer him. What can a woman do for a man?

Dravin chuckled, wiping his forehead as his thoughts veered into filthy territory.

"What's so funny? I can teach you martial arts," she offered.

Dravin frowned. "Martial arts? For what?"

"What do you mean by 'for what'? You're a hunter, and you're too weak for one."

Dravin drew his lips into a straight line at the blunt fact he didn't need Freya to remind him of.

"That's only because I haven't worked on my body yet. You'd be surprised to see how firm my muscles will be once I decide to get back into shape."

Freya giggled mockingly. "Doubtful."

"Place your bet and wait. Just don't fall for me when it happens. And… I'm a chef, why would I need martial arts?"

Freya looked stunned, then smiled.

"You're a chef for humans. But for a Demon, you'll need to use a different knife for a different purpose, of course."
