"So that's the reason you seemed so melancholy yesterday..." I murmured under my breath.
"Huh? Did it show that much?" Grace's voice carried genuine surprise that I'd picked up on her emotional state. "I was certain I'd masked it properly."
An apologetic smile crossed my face. "You did mask it well. But I've gotten to understand you pretty thoroughly by now. So it's only apparent to me."
"You're being so sappy, honestly," Grace burst into soft laughter. "We're not that intimate, Carlos. You could simply admit I looked terrible yesterday, so you figured I was upset. No need for sweet lies."
