Naturally, I had never uttered any of those accusations. My principles ran too deep. I wouldn't simply hand over a position to my unqualified younger sister based on family ties alone.

Everyone understood that I only recruited individuals with genuine talent and merit—the company meant everything to me. I refused to let favoritism destroy what I'd built.

I had also never claimed superiority over Carlos, and certainly not over the late Tristan Benjamin. I understood my boundaries and wouldn't cross them without necessity.

But what choice did I have? I couldn't exactly slap my sister for her lies when our mother's life hung in the balance.

"Yes," Amara exhaled heavily. "I apologize deeply, Mr. Benjamin. My sister can be quite prideful at times. I explained that I didn't want the position, but she insisted I come, threatening to cause trouble for the company if you didn't hire me..."

"Is this accurate, Mrs. Preston?" Carlos questioned.
