"You're absolutely right, I owe you compensation since work consumed my entire day," I replied. "I should have ditched my million-dollar deal to stay glued to your side whenever the mood strikes you, correct?"

My tone carried a sharp edge of mockery, though Amara remained completely oblivious to it.

"Exactly! You need to drop everything for me whenever I demand it, Mr. Benjamin!" Amara declared. "I'm your woman, aren't I? That makes me more precious than everything else on this planet!"

My jaw clenched involuntarily.

'This woman's nerve is absolutely mind-blowing,' I thought, fighting to keep my composure before I completely lost it. My irritation spiked when I caught Grace suppressing laughter on her side of our bed.

The call was on speaker, allowing her to hear every word of Amara's performance. Grace maintained that entertained expression while I endured this torture.
