Chapter 42 - Playing a Supporting Role Again

In the movie, David and his companions finally escaped the town after countless hardships. However, just as dawn was breaking, they lost their will to fight upon hearing the roars of countless monsters ahead. David then pulled out his pistol and ended the lives of everyone else.

At first glance, it seemed as though the tragedy was because David was too timid and cautious. But in reality, putting any ordinary person in David's shoes, they couldn't have done any better.

His misjudgment at the time was mainly due to a lack of information. Who knew how far the mist's influence extended? As an ordinary person, to persevere for three days in that bizarre environment without losing his mind, he had already reached his limit.

However, Li Qingyuan, who knew the plot, knew that judging by the time, the monsters' roars ahead were actually the army carrying out a clearance operation.

The place where he could use C4 Explosives to wipe out most of the monsters, wouldn't put up much resistance against regular troops.

Honestly, if the system hadn't maliciously increased the difficulty, the army should have counterattacked in at most two or three days.

If America couldn't even deal with these monsters from another dimension, what strength did they have to go around boasting to the whole world?

"Roar..."

A behemoth, resembling a Giant Bird, crashed to the ground. Its towering body, over ten meters tall, was even larger than the Mantis Monster. Yet, this creature, which would have been a prehistoric beast in the age of cold weapons, was utterly defenseless against an anti-tank rocket.

Just a single shot sent it straight to heaven!

He didn't know if these monsters were managed by Heaven, perhaps they believed in Cthulhu!

The sudden fall of the Giant Bird almost threw off his escape, but he didn't have to worry too much about the deadly chase behind him anymore.

Even though the distance was still considerable, he seemed to hear the shouting coming from across the way.

A group of soldiers were slaughtering the alien beasts with their weapons. Although they had killed many monsters beyond their imagination in the past few days, no one expected to see a living hill here!

Alien beasts of fifteen or twenty meters, though terrifying, could at least be mentally rationalized, as something that had appeared on Earth before, like dinosaurs!

But a behemoth of seventy or eighty meters? That's simply beyond any scientific explanation.

That thing would probably collapse under its own weight just standing there.

"Open fire!"

Although the Son of the Goat had put immense psychological pressure on the US Army, after a moment of stunned silence, the commander immediately issued the order to attack.

Their orders were to eliminate all mutated beasts, and this thing in front of them was clearly the leader. Therefore, it was absolutely a target for elimination.

Roaring artillery fire instantly targeted the Son of the Goat. All the soldiers immediately brought out their most powerful heavy firepower, firing relentlessly at the hill in front of them.

The sky seemed to collapse, and the thick fog was dispersed by the explosions.

Li Qingyuan huddled under the Giant Bird cadaver, pressed firmly against the ground. Those damn American soldiers didn't care about his life as a hostage, and actually launched an attack on the Son of the Goat.

Of course, it's highly likely those soldiers didn't even see him. After all, who pays attention to an ant at the bottom of a hill?

Besides, even if they did spot him, they'd probably attack anyway.

If the Son of the Goat reached the front lines, it wouldn't just be a matter of a few lives lost.

The Son of the Goat, hit by an anti-tank round, roared in fury, its voice briefly drowning out the sound of the artillery fire. It seemed that these dimensional creatures followed the rule of "the bigger they are, the stronger they are." Armor-piercing rounds, which could easily kill other mutated beasts, only managed to shatter the outer shell of the Son of the Goat.

A wound four or five meters deep would be fatal to other mutated beasts. For humans, even a hundred people would likely be sent to their graves by a single shell. However, such a terrifying injury was merely a scratch on the Son of the Goat's massive body.

Enraged, the Son of the Goat charged toward the military positions ahead, completely ignoring the tiny ant beneath its feet.

"Attack! Keep attacking!"

Seeing a mountain charging towards you…anyone who wasn't scared would be lying!

It's completely unrealistic how humans in those special effects movies can fight to the death against monsters the size of mountains.

Forget those terrifying behemoths; even if a dog suddenly charged at you, your instinct would be to dodge.

After another round of bombing, the entire US Army position collapsed. Facing a monster that couldn't be killed by explosions, they didn't have the courage of superheroes to try and restrain it with their bodies.

Besides, with the Son of the Goat's tonnage, trying to control it with human strength was a complete pipe dream.

"Maa!"

The Son of the Goat let out an angry roar. It had just come out for a stroll, and yet it had been injured to this extent by a bunch of ants. Where was the leader of the Mist Swamp supposed to put its face?

Right, why had it come here in the first place?

Having smashed through the military defenses and flattened several main battle tanks, the Son of the Goat began to reflect, using its massive head. What exactly was it here for?

Looks like he saw an interesting ant and was following it, ready to try and step on it?

Where's that ant now?

The Son of the Goat, eyes wide, searched the ground intently, looking for Li Qingyuan. But after the US Army's relentless bombardment, the ground here had been completely overturned. Finding Li Qingyuan, who had burrowed deep underground, was no easy task!

BOOM!

With a sonic boom echoing in the air, a state-of-the-art Stealth Bomber targeted the Son of the Goat and pressed the launch button.

Two heavy bombs instantly burrowed into the Son of the Goat's body. Compared to the toys the ground troops had fired, these heavy bombs were the real killers.

Just one could destroy a small hill hundreds of meters high, making them the most powerful weapons after nuclear weapons.

If even these things couldn't kill it, then they would really have to resort to the ultimate weapon!

Of course, it would be best not to resort to the ultimate weapon. No matter how remote Valia Town was, it was still American territory. If they set off fireworks on their own turf and the foreign media got wind of it, who knew what kind of trouble it would stir up.

"Meeeh…"

A violent sound echoed from within the Son of the Goat. Its incredibly tough shell immediately shattered, and its mountain-like body crashed to the ground.
