The sun was shining, and the city felt alive.
Aoi and I walked side by side, our hands entwined naturally. No sneaking, no hiding. Today was our first date as an official couple, and I couldn't stop smiling.
"So… where are we going first?" Aoi asked, her eyes sparkling.
I grinned. "I thought we'd start with the arcade. You've been talking about beating me at that claw machine all week."
Aoi puffed her cheeks. "I will beat you this time!"
---
At the arcade, we ran into a few friends who waved at us, teasing. But we didn't care—we were having our own little world.
I tried my best at the claw machine, but Aoi's small hands were surprisingly skilled. She scooped up a plushie effortlessly.
"Ha! I win!" she shouted, holding up the prize proudly.
I groaned dramatically. "No fair! You're cheating somehow!"
She laughed, tossing the plushie at me. I caught it and hugged her playfully. "Guess I'm the loser today. Fine. But next game, I'll win."
Her eyes sparkled mischievously. "We'll see about that, Haruto~"
---
After the arcade, we strolled to a small café. Sitting across from each other, sharing desserts, we talked about everything and nothing.
"You know," I said softly, watching her stir her tea, "I'm glad we're finally official."
Aoi looked up, smiling. "Me too. I don't have to hide my feelings anymore… and I get to be with you, openly."
I reached across the table, holding her hand. "…And I'll treasure every moment with you."
She blushed, leaning her head slightly against my arm. "Promise?"
"Promise," I replied, smiling.
---
The date ended with a walk through the park, the sun beginning to set. Aoi rested her head on my shoulder, sighing happily.
"Haruto… today was perfect," she murmured.
I kissed the top of her head gently. "It was perfect because I spent it with you."
She looked up at me, eyes shining. "…I love you."
I smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "…I love you too, Aoi. Always."
As we walked home hand in hand, the world felt brighter, warmer, and full of possibilities. Being official wasn't just a title—it was the start of a life we'd share together.
And for the first time, I realized… being with her like this felt completely, utterly right.
