The air itself tasted like him now, with spice, power, and a musk so potent it felt like a physical weight on Chris's tongue. 'Mine,' the scent declared, and a shiver of pure, unadulterated want arced down Chris's spine.
His head fell back, his eyes fluttering closed as he lost himself in the sensation. Dax's mouth found his throat again, sucking and biting, marking him lightly, making his body tremble in anticipation for the real marking.
Chris's breath hitched as Dax dragged his teeth over the scent gland at the base of his neck, pausing just long enough for Chris to feel every heartbeat echo there like a countdown.
"Dax…" he breathed. Trying to hurry the man as his heat was unbearable.
Dax didn't lift his head.
"I know," he murmured against Chris's skin. His voice had dropped lower, darker. "But I want you to feel it. I want you to know what it means when I claim you."
Chris's pulse stuttered beneath Dax's mouth.
