Zed had spent the last few days diligently studying the Oshima Family's Men's Cultivation Handbook. This mountain of a document was far more comprehensive than his own little three-page creation.
He found supplements for many areas he'd overlooked, and the content on physical training was absolutely top-notch.
Otherwise, why was it that, despite having the same parents, the older brother was so much stronger than the younger brother?
It must be because the older brother diligently followed the handbook's requirements from a young age, while the younger brother ran off to do street dance every day to look at pretty girls!
Mm~ it must be like that!
Having figured this out, Zed devoured the book with even more enthusiasm. He'd underestimated the director's tenacity; the harsh demands within far exceeded his imagination.
Zed used to think he was incredibly tenacious and worthy of admiration for enduring his second uncle's beatings for eight years straight. But today, he finally understood the meaning of "there's always someone better." Compared to the director, he was just a masochist!
He tossed the handbook onto the coffee table and chugged a bottle of ice-cold soda to cool down.
Phew~
Awesome!
Looking at the small refrigerator beside the sofa, Zed felt envious.
"Xiajiao! Have you finished making your Gashat?"
Dan Kuroto had just finished a half-day of work. Sipping coffee, he was preparing for a short rest before returning to the lab.
"The Dangerous Zombie Gashat is almost done, but I plan to postpone your project. I'll work on it after the Gamer Driver is built," Dan Kuroto said, assuming Zed's question was about the Gashat and Watch conversion.
But Zed wasn't in a hurry about this, and continued, "What I want to say is, don't just randomly perform adaptation surgeries on others. I just got the Watch back, and I don't want the Gashats to spread out again."
"No problem. I'm not doing new experiments, so I don't need new data. My God's Brain remembers all of this clearly. Ah! Time's up, I need to go back to the lab." Dan Kuroto left directly after speaking.
Seeing Dan Kuroto leave, Zed turned to Woz beside him and said, "Woz, come with me next week when we do the trade."
"Yes, my Demon King!"
Over at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s medical room, Matt hadn't suffered much damage besides his hands and ears, and he could be discharged after resting for two days. Matt wasn't stopped at all when he left S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.
With Nick Fury's instructions, S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't do anything to Matt, and HYDRA wouldn't care about an idealistic blind man, even though this blind man might be able to activate the Watch.
At most, they would send a few people to keep an eye on him, just to make a gesture.
Back at the law firm, Matt didn't even need to explain anything to his partners. S.H.I.E.L.D. had already arranged everything for him, and he could go back to work as usual.
During the downtime from handling the case, Matt was also reflecting on whether his cooperation with government agencies was the right decision. After much thought, Matt couldn't find an answer. He didn't know if it was right or wrong, but he figured he would make the same choice if he had to do it again.
Shaking his head in self-mockery, Matt threw himself back into the case. As long as he was busy, he wouldn't overthink things.
He was busy for a week.
That night, Natasha drove Nick Fury back to the place where she had been defeated. The parking lot outside was already cordoned off. They walked to the fifth floor. Zed and Woz were already waiting there.
Zed didn't speak. Woz stepped forward, spread his arms, and proclaimed loudly, "Celebrate! The time king who inherits the power of all Riders, transcends space and time, and knows the past and future, his name is Kamen Rider Oma Zi-O!"
Nick Fury and Natasha couldn't help but twitch their faces, their mouths curling. Although they had seen this scene on video, it was truly speechless to see it in person.
Nick Fury was expressionless. After a moment of silence, he adjusted his emotions and said, "Do you have to do this every time you show up?"
Zed actually quite enjoyed Woz's celebration, so he retorted Nick Fury, "What does it mean to have face? This is what it means! Do you understand? As for you, I really didn't expect you to dare to show up in person."
"I want to see for myself what kind of person this so-called Demon King is." Nick Fury's single eye kept sizing up Zed, making him feel uneasy all over.
"Alright! Suit yourself. Is what I want in that box?"
Natasha, after receiving Nick Fury's signal, opened the box to reveal the Obelisk inside, then closed it again.
Nick Fury continued, "What information do you have about HYDRA? Don't tell me they've risen from the ashes again?"
Zed was still resentful of the HYDRA attack in Manhattan and was very happy to cause them some trouble. "What kind of organization do you think HYDRA is?"
Nick Fury answered without hesitation, "Ambitious."
"That's right, HYDRA is full of ambitious people, but there's a world of difference between ambitious people. The Red Skull you eliminated in World War II was just one branch of HYDRA. More of HYDRA has been lurking in this society, capitalists, scientists, politicians, the military, they're everywhere. Even… in your S.H.I.E.L.D. there are plenty of them!" Zed's tone became sarcastic at the end.
When Nick Fury heard the end, a terrifying light burst from his single eye: "Who?"
"Money for goods," Zed thought. These special agents were ruthless; getting the goods first was the only way to feel secure.
Nick Fury wasn't worried at all, patiently stalling. "What if your information is false?"
Zed had no experience with this kind of drawn-out psychological warfare, but he hadn't brought Woz along just for fun.
Woz closed the book in his hands and said to Nick Fury, "You wouldn't believe us anyway. In the end, you'll still need to verify the information yourself, won't you? We're just giving you a direction you haven't considered."
"So, I'm losing out on this deal, then."
"The Obelisk has alternatives, though they're troublesome to find. But the information we provided is unique."
Nick Fury's expression remained unchanged. He turned and nodded at Natasha, who then handed a case to Woz.
"Tell me who he is!" A hint of emotion crept into Nick Fury's calm voice.
Zed didn't bother checking if the Obelisk was real or not, so he didn't bother to examine it at all. He cleared his throat, feigning seriousness, "The person you least expect, or rather, the person who shouldn't be a member of HYDRA."
"Is playing riddles fun?" Nick Fury was clearly dissatisfied with this answer.
"Why did you touch the Watch I gave to Jessica? Don't you know it's impolite to take other people's things?" Zed said without any politeness when his temper flared up. "You've caused me so much trouble, and I'm even telling you the truth. Shouldn't you be grateful to me?"
"Everything is necessary to protect this world." Nick Fury wasn't embarrassed at all, and continued, "Your actions have already caused a lot of chaos."
Zed didn't want to listen to these platitudes and cut Nick Fury off directly, saying, "The world changed the moment Tony Stark revealed his identity as Iron Man. You can't stop the arrival of the age of superpowers, just like you can't stop the sun from rising."
Zed didn't want to waste any more time with this black-skinned egghead and left without looking back, not waiting for Nick Fury to continue speaking.
Nick Fury and Natasha watched Zed and Woz leave, standing in place quietly. After the two disappeared from sight, Nick Fury asked Natasha, "Did you see anything?"
"The behavior pattern of the Kamen Rider Oma Zi-O is more like an ordinary person than the Demon King, and he should be young. And that vassal, Woz, has some issues," Natasha told Nick Fury the information she had analyzed through tone and actions.
"So, you're saying Kamen Rider Oma Zi-O isn't as dangerous as we thought, and this Woz is actually more of a threat?" Nick Fury's one eye blinked. "Could this attendant be the one pulling the strings?"
"Can't say for sure. The visor covers his face. There's just not much to analyze." Even without facial expressions, Natasha's psychological insights were so sharp she could glean that much from body language and tone of voice.
When S.H.I.E.L.D. retrieved the Obelisk from the warehouse, Pierce knew about it. Unfortunately, HYDRA didn't know the exact time of the transaction, missing their best chance to react. Moreover, Nick Fury and his top agents were all ace spies, almost impossible to tail.
If Pierce knew the details of Nick Fury and Zed's deal, he wouldn't be so relaxed. He might even mobilize everything to take down Nick Fury.
But there were no ifs. Right now, Pierce was in his office, playing along with Daniel Whitehall. "It's not that I don't want to help you, but I'm not the Director anymore. I have no reason to stop this! I can't take that risk! It's all for our great cause."
The voice on the phone became increasingly agitated: "Do you even know what you've done? Just like that, you handed over the Obelisk for information of unknown origin! Pierce! What do you mean by this?"
"Then what reason do you give me to stop Nick Fury? Use my status as your former superior? Or do you already know about the Obelisk, its purpose, and how to use it? Do you have any good reasons? If not, are you asking me to do something inexplicable and arouse suspicion from others?"
As one of the heads of HYDRA, Pierce naturally wasn't afraid of Daniel Whitehall. Once his temper flared, his barrage of questions left Daniel Whitehall speechless.
"You… you…"
After hanging up the phone, Pierce snorted. "What the hell!"
