After the Ghost Rider had eaten and drunk his fill, the flames covering his body burned even fiercer. He swayed slightly, as if helping himself digest.
Seeing the Earth Demon dead, the Mind Demon sized up the battlefield carefully. Three against five? No chance of survival! Time to scram!
"Retreat!"
With a shout, the Mind Demon turned into a cloud of black mist and fled the warehouse. The Wind Demon transformed into a gust of wind and followed, while the Water Demon became a torrent that surged into the underground pipes.
Woz and the others already had a general idea of Zed the Great Screenwriter's "plot." They knew this wasn't yet the time for these guys to "get their lunchboxes," so they didn't bother stopping the demons' escape.
Skye glanced toward the warehouse exit and muttered,
"I really wanna blast them all into dust."
"That won't do. His Majesty the Demon King's plan comes first," Woz reminded, snapping the script shut.
"I know, I know. Hey—Shin, what's with you?" Skye frowned, noticing that Shin had suddenly taken a battle-ready stance.
Lilith patted Skye on the shoulder and motioned for her to turn around. "Looks like we've still got one more enemy."
The Ghost Rider, now restored to full strength, looked noticeably different from before—his figure fuller, his spirit renewed. Johnny's tattered leather jacket had been transformed by Hellfire's magic; not only was it whole again, but it was now studded with gleaming spikes.
The Ghost Rider grabbed a heavy chain from the warehouse floor and lashed it once with a thunderous crack, then turned his hollow sockets toward Skye and the others—more precisely, toward Shin.
He raised one finger, pointing straight at him, and pronounced coldly,
"You! Are guilty."
Shin didn't bother replying. Instead, he silently took out the Drive Driver and transformed. There was no point reasoning with a thick-headed monster like this—beating him up was much simpler.
Drawing his Steering Sword, Shin charged straight at the Ghost Rider. The Rider was clearly enraged by Shin's indifference; the flames on his skull flared wildly, crackling like exploding firecrackers.
He swung his chain with a savage motion. It was wrapped in the consuming Hellfire—anyone touched by it would meet a miserable end.
But dodging chains like these hardly interested Shin, especially when he was in his Drive form. He darted nimbly between the serpentine coils of burning metal, closing the distance in a blink.
Raising his sword, Shin struck upward, sending the Ghost Rider flying. Then, channeling the sword techniques he'd learned from Murakami, he unleashed a flurry of shimmering sword-lights that fell upon the Rider all at once.
If the Ghost Rider had flesh, he'd have been shredded to ribbons. But Johnny's infernal form was no mere body of flesh—it was the crystallization of Zarathos's soul and the power medallion. Physical attacks simply couldn't deal him any real harm.
The Ghost Rider brushed the ashes off his scorched jacket and looked back at Shin, voice cold and deliberate:
"You! Guilt increased!"
Woz, Skye, and Lilith exchanged a glance before joining the fight. The four of them together managed to suppress the Ghost Rider, but Woz, Shin, and Skye still couldn't inflict any effective damage.
Dark Kiva's finisher, Dark Prison Collapse, could hurt him somewhat—but even that wasn't very effective.
Hellfire ignited once more over the Ghost Rider's body, and within a few breaths he had completely regenerated. Not that the attacks were useless—they only served to drive him into a deeper rage.
He swung his chain in a violent arc, forcing everyone to back off, then leapt onto the warehouse's crane. With both hands blazing with infernal fire, he imbued the entire machine with demonic energy.
Rows of tracks ran along the warehouse ceiling for moving cargo, but now they had become the Ghost Rider's personal highway.
The crane roared along the rails toward the group, slamming down again and again with deafening crashes.
Boom!
Boom!
"Shit! Everyone, get out!" Skye shouted as the massive machine loomed overhead. "Lilith! On me!"
Lilith nodded and clung onto Skye's back. Skye then pressed both palms to the floor and unleashed a massive seismic blast.
The recoil launched them both into the air. At the moment of takeoff, their bat wings unfurled—four in total—as they transformed into a twin-winged bat form and flew out of the warehouse.
Woz and Shin, using the Ninja and Drive forms, dodged the crane's attacks while sprinting toward the exit.
Boom!
Boom!
The crane chased them relentlessly. The small warehouse now felt impossibly vast, the exit a distant, unreachable horizon.
Neither Woz nor Shin dared to take a direct hit from the Hellfire-infused crane. They poured every ounce of strength into running—slowing down wasn't an option.
Just as they were about to reach the doorway, the crane's rear burst into blazing Hellfire. With a burst of speed, it surged above them in an instant.
"Ha~ha~ha~ha!" The Ghost Rider's raspy, crazed laughter echoed through the air.
The crane's reflection filled Woz's and Shin's pupils—it was too late to escape.
"Get down!" Lilith's desperate scream rang out.
In that split second of crisis, both Woz and Shin chose to trust their comrade and threw themselves flat on the ground.
BOOM!!!
The next moment, a shockwave like a massive earthquake tore through the air above them. The crane, its tracks, and even the warehouse itself were blown sky-high.
Skye stood with both arms outstretched, gasping for breath, trembling uncontrollably. Even her Yaran armor began to flicker and fade. It was the first time in over half a year she'd suffered backlash from her seismic powers.
Lilith wrapped her arms around Skye's waist, pulling the trembling, sweat-soaked girl into her embrace. "It's okay now. You saved Shin and Woz."
"Huff… haah… th-that's… good…" Skye could barely speak through her exhaustion.
As Shin and Woz climbed to their feet, ready to go to them, a clatter of falling debris sounded behind.
Woz shook his head and sighed.
"When His Majesty spoke about fighting Dracula, I didn't quite understand. But now that we've faced an immortal monster ourselves—and struggled this hard—I finally get it. His Majesty truly is incredible."
Shin didn't respond. He merely wiped his Steering Sword clean and stared coldly toward the rubble—where the Ghost Rider was crawling out once again.
The Rider's skull wobbled side to side, the sound of clacking bones filling the air. He pointed at Shin once more and declared,
"You! Are guilty!"
To the Ghost Rider, Shin's soul was the ultimate delicacy—thick with blood and sin, a feast beyond measure. He didn't have saliva, but if he did, it would've long since boiled away.
He swung his flaming chain and leapt high into the air, descending upon Shin and Woz in a furious strike—determined to burn Shin to ash.
Then—
"Time… shall stop."
Wearing the Chronos armor, Zed stepped forward slowly.
