"Hmph~ How boring!"
As his words fell, Zede lifted his Sound Strike Rod and smashed it down for the final blow, hitting the very center of the Sound Drum.
Boom!
"Wah!"
The Witch-Heart Demon spewed black mist as he was sent flying backward, crashing through the rotted wooden doors of the ruined church before finally landing on the ground with a heavy thud.
Zede walked slowly over, looked down at the Witch-Heart Demon's miserable state, and couldn't help but click his tongue.
Barely clinging to his last breath, the Witch-Heart Demon thought Zede had spared him out of mercy, or perhaps because he had been convinced by his pleas. Grasping at that hope, he begged desperately:
"Please! Don't kill me! I'll agree to anything you ask!"
Zede's face immediately brightened with delight."Really? So if I don't kill you, you'll agree to any condition?"
"Y-yes! I swear it!" The Witch-Heart Demon seized the lifeline in panic.
Zede pulled out a blank Driver Dial, shaking it in front of him."Then just press this and activate it successfully, and I won't kill you. I keep my word."
The Witch-Heart Demon trembled as he raised a finger and pressed the button on the dial."Fine, I'll press it—just don't kill me!"
The moment his finger made contact, a peach-pink light burst from the once-blank dial—dazzling, radiant, and lingering. It looked as if this Driver Dial had been made precisely for him.
Zede couldn't help exclaiming,"Holy crap! What kind of dial shines like this? Am I about to strike gold again?"
He squinted, trying to make out the design on the dial, but the light was blindingly intense. Even through his helmet visor, tears welled up from the glare.
But that only made him more excited—because not every dial could shine so fiercely that it seemed to shake heaven and earth.
When the glow finally faded after a long moment, Zede eagerly took a closer look… and immediately cursed.
"Cherry? Mountain God? Damn it!"(Kamen Rider Sigurd—Cherry Lockseed, crushed to death by the Mountain God.)
Zede's eye twitched uncontrollably. His face was as dark and sour as someone stepping into dog crap right after putting on brand-new shoes for the New Year.
Truly unlucky.
The Witch-Heart Demon couldn't see Zede's expression; he only saw him holding the dial, motionless and dazed.
Tentatively, the Witch-Heart Demon asked,"I activated the dial. You promised not to kill me, right? You're not going to go back on your word, are you?"
Zede exhaled a long sigh and said coolly,"Yeah… I keep my word."
Hearing that, the Witch-Heart Demon's face lit up. He was already planning to recover and come back for revenge—to make them all pay dearly.
Just then, Johnny and Roxanne entered the ruined church together, both speaking firmly:
"Don't trust him! We have to destroy him!"
"Huh? But I already promised him," Zede said awkwardly.
Roxanne raised her short-barreled shotgun and aimed it at the Witch-Heart Demon lying on the floor."If you won't do it, I will!"
Zede pocketed the "Mountain God" dial and clapped lightly."Wow, impressive—but that thing alone can't kill the Witch-Heart Demon, even after I beat him to a pulp."
Johnny frowned deeply."What's going on in your head, Zede?"
Zede didn't answer. He just swung his arms casually and strolled toward the church doors, leaving behind one line:
"My promise was a personal matter."
Among the three still in the church, the Witch-Heart Demon reacted first—bursting out in a crazed laugh.
"No! No! You liar! Wait… no, that's right! The two of them can't kill me! Hahaha! You can't kill me!"
He was barking mad, laughing like a lunatic—but in truth, he was just trying to convince himself he wasn't doomed.
Johnny thought for a moment, then grabbed the demon by the legs and dragged him into the shadows.
"What are you doing? You can't kill me! You're wasting your time!" the demon howled.
"No… I can kill you."
The first half of that sentence was Johnny's voice. The second half—was the hoarse growl of the Ghost Rider.
The Ghost Rider lifted the helpless Witch-Heart Demon until their eyes met. His hollow sockets burned like twin furnaces as he spoke slowly:
"A thousand souls await their reckoning. Look into my eyes—your soul is stained with the blood of the innocent. Feel their pain!"
"No! No!!"
The Witch-Heart Demon finally realized death was upon him, screaming in terror.
Hellfire roared to life, consuming him utterly until nothing remained but a thin wisp of blue smoke drifting away.
Roxanne, overwhelmed with joy, tried to embrace Johnny—but he instinctively stepped back."I'm a monster."
"I'm not afraid," Roxanne said firmly, stepping closer.
The orange flames on the Ghost Rider's skull flickered—and within them, a hint of blue appeared. In the next instant, the Ghost Rider transformed back into Johnny Blaze.
The two fell into each other's arms and shared a deep, passionate kiss.
Supporting Johnny, Roxanne walked him toward the church doors."Is it over?" she asked.
"Looks like… not yet," Johnny replied warily, his eyes fixed on the figures waiting outside—more precisely, on one: Mephisto.
Mephisto looked at Zede and asked mildly,"I'm here to do business with Johnny. You won't interfere in our private affairs, will you?"
Zede smiled freely and stepped aside."Be my guest."
Mephisto nodded slightly to him, then strode into the church. He spread his arms and spoke with feigned sincerity:
"Johnny, our deal is complete. I'm here to take back the power of the Ghost Rider. You can live as a normal man again—marry, have children, live a happy life. The woman beside you seems perfect for that."
Johnny pulled Roxanne behind him and pointed at Mephisto with one fiery hand."But… I refuse!"
"What? Why?" Mephisto was taken aback by the decisiveness of Johnny's rejection.
Flames burst from Johnny's hand. His skeletal finger pointed straight at Mephisto's brow.
"You're afraid of me! You're afraid I'll ruin your plans—that's why you're so desperate to reclaim this power.
Whether it's Zarathos or your precious medallion of power—you're not getting them back.
I'll bear this curse. In my father's name, I'll fight fire with fire and protect the innocent!"
When Johnny's heroic declaration ended, Zede clutched his forehead and bent over, laughing uncontrollably.
"Ahahaha! Humans really are fascinating! Mephisto, do you see it now? This is the difference between your eyes and mine!
You only saw Johnny's Kales bloodline—but you ignored the power of Johnny Blaze himself! Hahaha!"
Mephisto didn't respond. His teeth clenched as he glared coldly at Johnny.
"Johnny, you'll pay the price for this!"
Even after his threat, Mephisto wasn't satisfied—he opened his mouth to say more, but Zede cut him off.
Zede leaned toward Woz and whispered a few words. Woz immediately stepped forward and announced loudly:
"Rejoice! For the strongest Ghost Rider in history—Johnny Blaze—master of elemental demon Zarathos and a quarter of the Medallion of Power—is born at this very moment!"
It wasn't that Zede didn't want to celebrate. It was just that… the Mountain God was too damn unlucky.
