Chapter 12 - Arrogant and Weak.

In a well-decorated room sat a woman with purple hair on a long sofa, and on her lap rested the head of a young man with white hair.

She gently ran her trembling hand through his hair.

After some time, the young man woke up.

'I am arrogant.'

'I am weak.'

'And I am an idiot.'

'Any news there, Dex?' said a certain dragon, who was ignored.

'How did I ever think I could defeat him? A gray-haired elf, blue-eyed, tall, and a mage who controls space itself. In this world, there is only one person who could be described that way, and his name is Aldebran Veythar, the Director of Ouroboros. He only appeared during the most dangerous moments in history and is the only known 8th-circle mage of the modern era.'

'Could it be that the reason you asked for a beating was because you just awakened a power that can control your emotions when it comes to your wives?'

'But that doesn't change the fact that I gave in to rage and risked her life!!'

'Well, for that to never happen again, there's only one option—become the strongest.'

'Strength...'

Dex then opened his eyes and saw the reason for his new resolve.

Her eyes were slightly red from crying.

"Please forgive me, my king. I am a failure both as a sword and as a wife," she said in a trembling voice. "I did nothing while you fought for your life against someone much stronger, just to protect me. I... I am completely useless."

Dex stood up and said, "Don't you dare say that. You are my responsibility. If I didn't try to protect you while you were in pain, how could I call myself your husband?"

Just as they were about to kiss—

"Yes, I know you two love each other very much, but could you save the sappy speeches for later?"

Dex then looked over to a chair in front of him and Zephyra. There he was—the strongest man alive.

Aldebran immediately got to the main point. "I'll ask you a simple question: what is your goal?"

Dex, a bit confused as to what the director was expecting, answered: "I want to live a simple life with my family and for all of them to be safe."

'Of course, you'll live an ordinary life with your seven wives and as a demon king,' said Echidna with an ironic tone.

'Back in my world, I always wanted to live a simple life with my family, especially after my father died... but a certain dragon dragged me into this world.'

Dex quickly refocused on the conversation with the director.

"There's one thing that makes you different from my younger self."

"What?" Dex was confused, since the director's youth had never been referenced in the game.

"You remind me of my past self—arrogant because I was more talented than others."

"Then why provoke me?"

"To make you realize you're not that special and to prevent you from ending up like me."

"Ending up like you?"

"... " The director fell silent. "That doesn't matter now."

"I'll explain your situation."

"You and nine other students were accepted into Class S and will share classes with Class A, but with certain benefits. Each class has its own required ranking to qualify. Class S, for example, is composed only of the top ten."

"You are currently ranked number one due to the power you demonstrated at your awakening, but there's something that left everyone confused." He then pointed at Zephyra. "She created this confusion."

"The main reason is her appearance, which closely resembles that of a demon. But this theory was dismissed after specialists evaluated her aura and discovered she does not carry the energy of corruption. Still, the question remains: what is she?"

'What do I say, Echidna?'

'The best option is to say that neither you nor she knows what she is. And that, as far back as she can remember, she was in a completely dark and empty space.'

And that was exactly what he told the director.

"Then why does she call you her husband?"

This time, she answered herself. "Something in that void once told me that the one who would free me would be my destined one. So, I kept waiting for that moment until now." She then hugged Dex's arm with a smile.

"Alright, I'll believe your word."

"Now I'll explain how the dormitories work."

Hearing this, Dex remembered the game.

'In the game, the dorms were divided into pairs from each year, and that's when the main character first met Sylvia.'

'But since I was out for more than two days, I might end up with someone from a lower-ranked class.'

The director began to explain.

"Since the founding of the academy, dorms have been divided into apartments for two people, usually from the same class. This was done to encourage rivalry and friendship between students."

"But this year, the new student council president managed to quickly push through a last-minute change with the professors' council and me."

'What the hell is this change that never happened in the game?'

"This year, first-year students will share dorms with third-year students who hold the corresponding ranking."

"The purpose is for the first years to have mentors to guide and keep them under control."

"So, you'll be sharing a dorm with the number one student in the academy—the same woman who proposed this entire change."

Confused, Dex asked, "But why change such an old tradition?"

"For two reasons. First, the council fears you might turn into an uncontrollable monster. Second, the proud president herself volunteered to be your jailer."

"So the reason... is me???"

"Yes."

Dex, now thoughtful, suddenly remembered something.

"Can I ask for something selfish?"

"Depends on what you ask." Hearing this, the director frowned.

Dex then bowed his head. "I know she isn't a student, but could she attend classes as one?"

Seeing her king lower his head just so he could stay with her made Zephyra's heart throb.

"It's possible."

Dex, overjoyed, immediately said, "Thank you so much, sir!"

"Don't get too happy. I'm not done yet."

"I can see that you two are very attached, but there is a clear rule about dorms."

"No familiars may live under the dormitory roof."

Upon hearing this, Zephyra stood up, outraged. "You want me to abandon my master in some place to live with a woman I don't even know?"

"Basically, yes," he said, watching her in full fury. "Neither of you has a choice. If you try to stay there, your husband will be expelled from the academy. And since you were summoned by our ritual, you also belong to the academy. You'll have to remain here until he graduates. If he's expelled, you'll never see each other again."

Hearing all this, Dex grabbed her hand and calmed her down. "Zephy, it's going to be alright. We'll see each other every day in class and on weekends too."

She then leaned against his chest and began to cry. "I just don't want to be alone anymore... no more, please!!"

Before Dex could comfort her again, the director spoke.

"You won't be alone. In the academy, most second- and third-years have familiars. I myself also have a humanoid familiar."

'What familiar is that?'

"I'll make sure you are under her care, and you'll be able to live with new friends in the Beast Pavilion."

He then summoned his familiar through his space magic.

She was beauty incarnate in every sense—white hair, eyes of the same color, a body that would make any man her slave. Like Zephyra, she had horns, but two pairs, completely white. Behind her was a wide tail covered in scales. Of all the women he had met so far, she was certainly the most beautiful. Yet, he felt nothing.

She looked around. "Veyvey, how many times have I told you not to summon me without warning?"

Hearing this, Dex was confused. 'Veyvey?'

The director then introduced the lady to Zephyra.

"This charming lady is Tiamat, my contracted dragon, and she will be your mentor."

"That's all?"

Hearing what "Veyvey" had said to his 'student,' Tiamat grabbed Zephyra in her arms and moved toward the window.

As she was being abducted, the queen could only scream.

And before anyone could stop her, Tiamat jumped out of the window, wings forming from her back, and flew toward Zephyra's new home.

Seeing her escape, the director could only sigh in resignation and mutter, "Always in such a rush, aren't you?"

"Well, you'll see each other again in two days, so it's not that bad."

Before Dex could complain about his wife being kidnapped, Aldebran tossed him some keys.

"These keys are for your apartment. If you have any questions, take them to your roommate. And finally—farewell."

Snap!

And just like that, with a snap of his fingers, Dex was teleported in front of his apartment.

'Son of a bitch!' thought Dex, seeing he had been teleported without his consent.

'I didn't even get to say goodbye to her.' Dex looked around.

The hallway was clearly well decorated and had five doors in total—two on each side and one at the end.

The door at the end was adorned with gold details and bore the number 1, signifying it belonged to the strongest.

Dex opened the door angrily, but upon seeing the interior, he felt the same overwhelming sensation he had with Selene and Zephyra—only stronger.

The apartment was luxurious and spacious, but something inside outshone all that wealth and space.

Tall, wet blonde hair, red eyes, human ears, smooth tanned skin with faint bikini marks across her massive breasts and butt, and completely naked—from her nipples to her womanhood—everything in full view of the shocked Dex.

She looked at him standing at the door. She didn't scream or feel embarrassed. She only smiled, seeing Dex's dropped jaw and the bulge in his pants.

"Do you like what you see? It's only natural, after all… I am the most beautiful woman in this world."
