Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Watching Opera and Going to Jail

That day, Alex rushed and completed four commission tasks in less than an hour.

Most of the time consumed was spent traveling.

Alex arrived at the Adventurers' Guild.

"To the stars and the abyss, welcome to the Adventurers' Guild."

Alex sighed inwardly, but listening to Katheryne's voice did indeed make him feel happy and brought back the feeling of checking in during games.

Then he explained to Katheryne that he had completed the commission tasks.

Katheryne nodded: "Alright, I will send someone to verify the completion of your tasks. Please rest for a while, or come back later to collect your reward."

Alex was speechless. Perhaps it was because he was a new member who had just joined and completed the tasks too quickly, so they needed to verify it. Delaying the reward was normal.

Perhaps once his reputation and rank were higher, he wouldn't need verification and could collect his remuneration immediately.

"Then I'll choose to come back when I have time. I'm going to find Furina first," Alex said to Katheryne, seeing the situation and no longer being in a hurry.

"Alright, go ahead and be busy. We will prepare your well-deserved reward for you; remember to come back and collect it," Katheryne replied with a smile, then saw Alex disappear in an instant, her expression unchanged, as she began to serve another Adventurer who walked over. "To the stars..."

..."Oh~~~ My dear Mary~, why did you do this?"

"No~, Robert~~~, life is short, and things are unpredictable. I am no longer the naive me I once was~"

"Ah oh~~~~ Abba Abba, Makabaka~ Stars stars~~~"

You guessed it right, Alex was currently watching an opera in the Opera House.

The admission fee cost a full 50,000 Mora. The price for watching an opera should be quite expensive!

Alex looked around. The people who came to watch the opera were all dressed very elegantly. Noble women seemed to account for 80% of them.

Oh no, he originally came to the Opera House to find Furina, but he shouldn't have suddenly felt the urge to buy a ticket to watch an opera and experience it. Now he's stuck in "opera jail"!

The plot of this opera generally told a melodramatic love story, with separation, misunderstandings, and a third party.

If you empathized with the wronged party, you'd be furious; you had to turn off your brain to watch it.

And true to opera, they started singing after only a few words.

Whenever they started singing, Alex got a splitting headache.

Can't they stop using French or Italian... No, this is Teyvat, so they should stop singing in ancient Fontainean.

After one act, Alex had a terrible headache.

It wasn't until all the actors appeared together and bowed to the audience that the long opera was considered complete.

"Hoo hoo hoo." Alex was half-asleep... "Clap clap clap!" Crisp applause came from above his head, followed by everyone else clapping.

"Ah oh oh!" Alex rolled his eyes and clapped along.

Good! It's finally over... The crowd on stage quickly retreated, and new stage props were brought in.

Opera Act Two, activate!!!

Alex, who had just woken up, immediately closed his eyes. I'm going straight to sleep!

"Zzz..."

"Clap clap clap!"

Good! It's over!!! I'm awake!!!

Opera Act Three, activate!!!

Speaking of which, the large chairs in the Opera House are really comfortable~ I'll just pull out a small blanket, cover myself, and continue sleeping!

When the opera finally ended and the audience began to disperse, Alex, who had forgotten how many times he had woken up, was well-rested.

Alex checked the time; it had actually been about 3 hours, which was even longer than watching a movie.

Alex quickly walked to the main entrance of the Opera House, intending to intercept Furina.

He had inquired when buying the ticket; there was only this one opera today, and Furina had already been in her exclusive seat upstairs, ready to watch.

When only a few people were left inside, Alex finally spotted his target.

Furina was walking towards the main entrance, looking leisurely.

Alex waved at Furina. Furina's drifting gaze looked over and noticed Alex's presence.

"Oh? Why are you here today?" Furina asked with surprise.

"Of course, I came to find Furina, and I also bought a ticket to watch the opera just now," Alex explained.

"Wow~ This must be your first time watching an opera, right? How was it? Wasn't it beautiful!! Very interesting!" Furina's tone became more excited.

"Hmm, for me, this viewing experience was mediocre. The overall plot was a bit disappointing... And the main point is, I got sleepy as soon as they started singing because I couldn't understand it," Alex pursed his lips, his eyebrows unconsciously furrowing slightly.

Furina originally wanted to discuss the opera's plot with Alex, but she didn't expect Alex to say he couldn't understand the singing part at the end.

Furina's large ahoge on top of his head twitched slightly, and he immediately understood what was going on.

"Hmm, this opera is indeed very unfriendly to you outsiders because it's all sung in ancient Fontainean. However, we also have many operas in Fontaine that are entirely sung in Teyvatian," Furina explained with a slight frown.

Since he couldn't understand the singing parts, the plot had significant gaps for him. So he no longer wanted to discuss the opera's plot with Alex.

"Let me recommend a few operas that I think are good. These are all sung in Teyvatian. Although the effect isn't as authentic as those sung in ancient Fontainean, they are still very pleasant to listen to~" Furina said, then began to introduce them one by one into Alex's ear.

Speaking of opera, Furina went on at length.

Alex kept looking at Furina; his unique two-dimensional beauty was truly stunning.

After he seemed to finish speaking, Alex immediately said: "Alright, alright, next time for sure, next time for sure."

Then Alex directly used a topic-changing card: "Furina~ little treasure trove~~~"

"Hmm? Little treasure trove?" Furina stared with wide eyes, looking utterly confused.

"Didn't you say a while ago that you also had a box of 'Primogems'~" Alex gestured with his hands for a large box.

"Oh, so you were talking about that... Perfect, I'm tired after watching the opera too. You can take me back to Palais Mermonia, and we can have some dessert~" Furina said, reaching out and grabbing Alex's arm.

"Alright, but before that..." Alex said, leading Furina to the Lione District Teleport Waypoint.

Not far directly in front of this Waypoint stood the Adventurers' Guild.

"To the stars..."

Good, his brain had already learned to automatically block out the subsequent lines; it's really effective.

"Thank you for completing these commissions. Here is your reward," Katheryne said to Alex with a smile.

Alex took the Mora pouch Katheryne handed him; it clearly contained a full 38,720 Mora.

Oh? It seems the income is quite good. If Teyvat residents take four commissions every day, they won't have to worry about food and drink.

But this wasn't even enough to buy one opera ticket.

Furina, who was accompanying him, only then realized that Alex had joined the Adventurers' Guild and become an Adventurer.

Furina didn't ask too many questions, as there was nothing wrong with joining the Adventurers' Guild. On the contrary, it provided a considerable income.

However, one thing surprised Furina quite a bit: according to Katheryne, Alex had just joined this morning, then took on four tasks, and completed them alone in less than an hour.

That was very impressive, as by normal standards, it was already very good for an ordinary Adventurer to complete one commission task in a day, and some tasks even took several days to complete.

Furina suddenly thought that Alex could use teleportation, which saved a lot of travel time, and then he was relieved.
