Chapter 2 - Something Watches

July 27th, Midnight

Dev and his friend walked into the old school washroom. The tiles were cracked, and the lights flickered.

"I don't know why we came here," Dev's friend whispered, leaning against the wall.

"Relax," Dev said. "It's fine. Just a late-night walk."

Suddenly, the lights flickered violently. The buzzing noise startled them, but they laughed it off.

"See? Nothing happened," Dev said.

He looked at his friend. "I'm going inside. Wait here; I'll be out soon."

His friend nodded and leaned against the wall. Dev stepped into the washroom, the door creaking shut behind him.

Everything was silent. Then he heard a voice. Soft. Whispering.

"Shh… shhh… D…ev…"

Dev froze. His heart raced. He turned around, trying to find the source of the voice. The tiles only reflected his own face.

He shook his head. "It's nothing… just my imagination," he muttered.

He reached for the door handle to call his friend. But the washroom was empty. The floor was bare. No sound. No one.

Fear gripped him. He ran to the door. It was locked.

Then, it opened slowly on its own.

Dev hesitated, but curiosity pushed him forward. He stepped closer—and a shadowy hand shot out from the darkness, grabbing his wrist. The shadows consumed him, pulling him inside.

Present Day, September 12th, College Cafeteria

Steve and Tom sat at a table, eating lunch.

"So, did you hear about the missing students?" Tom asked.

"Yeah, but who cares? It's probably nothing," Steve replied, cutting a piece of his sandwich.

Suddenly, a girl walked in. Amrin—Steve's crush. But she wasn't single. She was Raiyan's girlfriend, Steve's rival.

Steve noticed her but didn't care. He pushed his chair back. "I'm done here," he muttered and walked away.

Meanwhile, Old Abandoned City

Authorities were still searching for the friends who disappeared.

Special detective teams combed the streets, looking for any sign of life. One of them, John, specialized in tracking and investigation. But even he found nothing—no footprints, no signs, nothing.

Some people whispered, "It must be paranormal."

John shook his head. "That's nonsense. Ghosts don't exist. We'll find a clue eventually."

But no clue appeared. The city remained silent, watching.

Present Day, College Balcony

Steve stood on the balcony, taking a deep breath. The cool air felt nice against his skin.

A voice spoke beside him. "Seems like you're lost in thought, huh?"

Steve turned. Alisa stood there, smiling.

"Well, it's not like that," Steve said.

"Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking right now," Alisa replied.

Steve shook his head. "It's nothing, Alisa."

She ignored him and walked away. Steve muttered under his breath, "No way, I'm not interested in any girl right now."

His eyes wandered—and froze.

Beside the library, a door stood silently. He hadn't noticed it before. The wood was old and worn, with faint but strange carvings. A chill ran down his spine.

Steve stepped closer. "I've never seen this…"

He reached for the handle. Just as his fingers touched the cold wood, a voice called behind him.

"Hey dude! Let's go, class is over today!"

It was Tom.

Steve jerked his head back. "Yeah… yeah, I'm coming."

But as Tom walked away, Steve couldn't take his eyes off the door.

It seemed alive, whispering secrets he couldn't understand. And somewhere in the shadows, the slightest flicker of movement crossed the door, as if someone—or something—was waiting.

Steve swallowed hard. The hairs on his arms stood on end. He knew he shouldn't open it, but something made him want to.

The wind whispered through the library windows.

And the door creaked.

Slowly.

Steve's hand hovered over the handle. The shadows around the door shifted, as if they were alive, waiting for him. And somewhere deep inside, a whisper called his name.
