Aira was about to ask another question when she suddenly stopped.
Her eyes narrowed. "Wait." She turned toward the elf. 'How did you know I had a cat?"
The elf glanced at her. For a moment, he said nothing.
Aira's suspicion grew. How did he know about Snowball? She was certain she hadn't mentioned him until now. She opened her mouth, ready to confront him.
"How did you--"
BOOM!
The ground suddenly shook making Aira's entire body jolted.
"What the--?!"
The elf immediately turned around.
Another violent tremor followed. The trees around them swayed violently, their branches shaking as though something enormous had just moved beneath the earth.
Aira grabbed onto the nearest tree for support. "What is happening?!"
She looked around in panic. There was no earthquake warning in her head. Then, a deep, terrifying sound echoed through the forest. It wasn't a roar. Nor was it thunder. It was something far more ominous.
