As Roy gazed at her details, the more shocked he became. If this isn't pure talent, I don't know what is… Order holders indeed all had golden fingers.
System, what are comprehensions?
[Comprehensions are understandings of laws and elements, which can be used to boost skills and one's ability itself.]
Roy nodded in understanding. After pondering for a bit, he questioned once more. How can I obtain comprehensions?
[Host can obtain Comprehensions through sudden enlightenments, deeper understanding of skills, and by brooding over high elemental affinity items.]
Hm, I'll have to add this to my main goals… he concluded. Remembering something, he grinned, his hands rubbing together in a greedy fashion as his eyes glued to Ashley.
On recruiting her and realizing her special perks, anyone with a brain would realize… this heavensent genius was a born treasure.
Roy could already picture it: keeping gold stashes with her only to come back the next day and boom — double returns. Building materials aren't enough? Let her sleep on them, wake up, boom — double again. She was practically a walking gold mine!
Ashley, meanwhile, felt goosebumps all over as she sensed Roy's gaze. Right now it was somewhat similar to how a wolf gazes at a sheep. She trembled as she prayed she had chosen the right Lord.
The edge of his lips practically reached his ears as he quickly selected her position as treasurer. That way she would have access control to the faction's inventory, and her Blessing of Double would also include their treasures, items, and money.
The moment her status in his rank was confirmed, something miraculous happened. Essence strings bloomed midair, interweaving into each other and encasing her figure, illuminating the surroundings.
By the time they went dim, her perfect figure was now fully coated in a bright navyblue set. She was dressed in a police uniform with a name badge and all.
She stood astonished, remembering that something like this had happened to her attacker the moment he stepped into the building — he was dressed in the orange prisoner set. Indeed, the ways of Lords were mysterious, she marveled.
Looking at her dress, her blouse was firm, clinging around her bosom tightly, and her skirt at the right length, just revealing the right amount of milktender thighs while also clinging to her waist tightly, perfectly outlining her hips. Roy couldn't help but stare, nodding in approval. Nice!
He then proceeded to give her a briefing on their current state.
Growl~
The sound of a growling stomach originated from her, as her face flushed pink in embarrassment. Roy just smiled. "You can get yourself something to eat over there, and for a drink there's the vending machine… but you will have to pardon me as I can only provide a variety of coffee drinks for now."
Ashley seemed stunned, but that was understandable. Who wouldn't be? After all, no one expected to hear of modern cuisine anytime soon… well, his case was special though.
Ashley blinked curiously and went ahead to reach for a strawberry jamcoated doughnut. She always had quite the sweet tooth. She inspected it curiously — it was warm and tender, with a thin layer of crust.
Then she took a whiff… her pupils constricted, her mouth watered, and she gulped on instinct. This… she shook her head, not wanting to jump to conclusions, and delicately took a bite.
This… this was an unprecedented creation! How could a doughnut taste this good? It was an explosion of flavor, and the thin layer of crust coating the fluffy texture of the insides worked together perfectly. And the jam — it was the best she had ever had.
It felt so good her eyes watered. She felt regretful — why had her taste buds been deprived of such a divine encounter? And she felt happy and grateful to have the opportunity to encounter something so heavenly.
Then she reached for a drink, a creamtopped cappuccino to be exact, and gulped.
Her figure trembled as she couldn't help but wail inwardly. This… this is bad. I will get fat!
Meanwhile, her new Lord just inspected all these reactions from the side with a knowing smile. Only those who had experienced heaven could understand.
He shook his head. He still had things to do — there was no time to waste. First and foremost, he had to allocate his stats, and he had 9.
After pondering for a bit, he decided to ignore the intelligence attribute for now, distributing the nine among the other three.
Now that that was done, he sat on the control recliner and opened the territory bird'seye view. His next step was recruitment, but before he started spending vouchers, he decided to scout those in his territory first.
A digital map sprawled into view, detailing his outpost and the thousands of miles of lush land around it. Within, one could see four green dots and one gray at the center, which was the outpost, identifying him, his subordinates, and his only prisoner.
Aside from these, occasional red dots could be seen in the surroundings — these were the hunters who ranged within his territory.
System, summon all within range for recruitment. Those who refuse the calling, brand them as trespassers.
[Initiating Command…]
Just before he relaxed, he noticed something from the corner of his vision — a red dot that seemed to be rapidly retreating out of his territory. Who is that? For some reason I can't help but think it's trouble.
…
Around the north outskirts of Roy's territory…
"Jack! Jack! We have a problem!" a figure alerted while running toward a group of people.
All the men in the area were fiercelooking, bald, with tattoos etched across their bodies. Back on Earth, they would all pass as mafia gang members.
Humans were always rebellious, and not everyone resigned to their fates. Just because they weren't Lords didn't mean they couldn't create their own factions.
And this group was exactly that — a faction headed by a hunter.
"Why the screaming, Leo?" a bald, burly man frowned as he questioned. Noticing something, his expression turned grim as he asked another, "Where is the Boss?"
The runner finally came to a stop before the bunch, heaving, short of breath. "The… Boss, hhe was defeated!"
Everyone's eyes went wide as they all exclaimed in chorus.
"What?" "Impossible!" "The Boss is invincible… right?"
Meanwhile, the burly man remained silent in brooding, his expression dark. This was supposed to be an easy operation — just kill the Lord and take his throne.
They needed to do this if they wanted to clear a newly found dungeon. They had let their Boss go on his own because of their trust in him and how terrifyingly strong he was. He was an elite, a figure that even the newly ordained Lords would struggle against, and still he failed.
Turning his eyes back on the scout, he asked, "How did it happen?"
The scout trembled, his eyes reminiscent of terror. "Boss went down after a single hit!"
Everyone went silent, their eyes wide with horror. A single hit?
Boss Dio, the man who led them grinding?
The man who singlehandedly carried their entire group during battle?
A man who became Level 9 in just a single day since humanity's ascent to Arcana?
That Boss lost?
"JJack, what do we do? Should we flee?" the scout voiced fearfully.
The burly man remained silent in pondering. After a while, he spoke. "Defeating Boss that easily is impossible, unless the Lord used a trick…"
He stood, his eyes glinting fiercely, and announced in a tone that didn't leave room for argument. "I say we jump him!"
