Victor cleared his throat, the sound low and stiff, slicing through the morning air.
His eyes stayed locked on Sebastian like he was watching an animal in a cage — observing every micro-movement.
The way Sebastian adjusted his shoulders, the slow lift of his chest as he breathed, even the way his jaw moved while chewing… Victor studied all of it, trying to decode a boy who refused to be decoded.
Sebastian held back a laugh.
The attention was almost warm, almost flattering, and sadly… satisfying.
Celeste's hand slid across in slow motion, her fingers hovering before finally resting on Sebastian's lap.
Her palm was warm, soft, almost trembling — as if touching him was the confirmation she needed that the fantasy unfolding in her head wasn't some illusion made of morning sun and wishful thinking.
She caressed lightly, slow strokes, testing him, testing fate.
