"A Vampire?!"
Kei was utterly stunned by this revelation.
Ignoring her exclamation, Luo Shu instead remarked with curiosity:
"Speaking of which, Shirogane-san, have you encountered any strange objects recently?"
"An artefact capable of transforming you into a sunlight-resistant Pureblood Vampire is exceptionally rare. Even within the SDS, it would warrant at least an Elite Rank evaluation."
"Under normal circumstances, only two Pureblood Vampires conceiving naturally could produce someone like you, who's transformed into a Pureblood."
"I don't know..." Kei looked blankly at her raised hand.
Had she really become a Vampire? What was going on?
And had she encountered any peculiar items lately...?
"Oh, right!" Kei suddenly remembered something. "My dad brought home a cross some time ago."
"A cross?" Luo Shu frowned. "Could you elaborate?"
"I'm not entirely sure about it."
Kei furrowed her brows in recollection:
"My dad frequently changes jobs and sometimes brings home odd things. That cross... I think he got it when he last set up a fortune-telling stall."
"Kei-chan's dad is that amazing?" Chika Fujiwara exclaimed in surprise.
"Is the item still there?" Luo Shu pressed.
Kei hesitated before answering: "It should be in Dad's room. I saw it when I was cleaning last time."
"It still exists? So it's not a single-use Abyss Artefact?"
This was rather unexpected for Luo Shu. According to SDS records, most Bestowal-type Abyss Artefacts—whether granting abilities or bloodlines—were one-time use, with very few being permanent.
Those that could last were mostly high-tier, at least Hero Rank or above.
Kei's father actually got his hands on such an item?
And judging by the situation, he hadn't been killed by it...
This...
Meanwhile, Kei asked with great unease:
"So... all those recent approaches... were because I became a Vampire?"
Luo Shu nodded: "That's right. To be more precise, it's because of the innate charm Vampires possess that leads to being approached."
As he spoke, Luo Shu glanced at Kei Shirogane and said: "Shirogane-san, you'd best prepare yourself mentally."
Hearing this, Kei's heart skipped a beat: "What kind of mental preparation?"
Luo Shu pinched a strand of Kei's hair, interpreting the divination results from the Mysticism Encyclopaedia as he explained:
"Your Vampirisation has only just begun. Over the next few months, you'll gradually transform into your complete state."
"What will happen to me?" Kei began to feel somewhat afraid.
After considering his words, Luo Shu replied:
"Mainly craving blood, disliking sunlight, and then... becoming several levels more beautiful. You probably won't need cosmetics anymore either - the power of your bloodline essentially equates to having built-in beauty filters and whitening effects."
At the mention of blood-drinking and sunlight aversion, Kei's expression turned uneasy. But upon hearing she'd become much more beautiful, her eyes immediately lit up. The prospect of not needing cosmetics delighted her even more:
"So that means I can save the portion of my allowance meant for cosmetics? Brilliant!!"
Hearing this, both Luo Shu and Daichi Fujiwara wore subtle expressions, while Chika Fujiwara looked on with envy.
"Eh, so you don't have to wear makeup every day anymore? No more smearing weird stuff on your face, that sounds amazing. I want to become a Vampire too."
"Girls' priorities, really..." Daichi Fujiwara hesitated but ultimately didn't voice how incomprehensible he found this.
After all, with three young girls in his household, he feared being ostracised!
Meanwhile, Luo Shu reminded her with a resigned expression:
"Rather than worrying about that, perhaps consider your family situation first."
Kei Shirogane blinked upon hearing this.
Luo Shu then said meaningfully, "Kei-san became a Pureblood Vampire just by touching that cross. In other words, your father, and likely your entire family..."
Kei froze momentarily before her expression suddenly brightened with tearful joy:
"That's wonderful! My dad and brother won't drag down the family's looks anymore."
"Do Vampires not need to eat? Just drink blood?"
"Blood bags seem much more expensive than regular food... won't our household expenses skyrocket?"
"Nooo, not that!!"
Luo Shu: "..."
He was speechless. Why did Kei Shirogane's thought processes seem so... broken?
His eye twitching, Luo Shu glanced at Daichi Fujiwara.
The latter remained utterly composed as he said, "Just accept it. We'll never understand how modern girls think. Endure it and it'll pass."
Luo Shu sighed heavily: "I'll arrange for Kei-san's family to be investigated, especially regarding that cross. If it's confirmed as a replicable Race Transformation-type Abyss Artefact, we'll take appropriate measures."
"Now, let's discuss the Hagoromo Group situation."
"As mentioned earlier, Kei-san now qualifies as a spiritually sensitive girl, making her a potential target."
After this, Luo Shu shot Daichi a look:
"Fujiwara-san, please contact the Shirogane parents later. Say your daughter needs to stay with Kei for a few days due to circumstances. Fabricating a reason shouldn't be difficult?"
Realisation dawned on Kei: "Ah, right! That could work."
Chika Fujiwara clapped her hands excitedly: "Eh? Kei-chan staying to play with me? Wonderful!"
Daichi immediately grasped that this could buy them time: "Understood. I'll explain it to the Shiroganes."
"Regarding Chika's kidnapping, shall I apply some pressure on the Metropolitan Police Department?"
"It's necessary." Luo Shu narrowed his eyes, sipping coffee with a smile. "Naturally, I'll also offer them some... suggestions. After all, didn't I just enjoy drinks at the Fujiwara residence yesterday?"
Daichi instantly understood Luo Shu intended to make the police uncomfortable and chuckled:
"Who calls first, then? Should I sound agitated? Can I yell at them?"
"You go first. I'll call thirty minutes later."
Luo Shu checked his phone before adding calmly:
"Wouldn't want the director to suffer cardiac distress from simultaneous shocks."
As the two men conversed, the same thought occurred to both Kei and Chika:
'Terrorists. Vile villains!'
These two really go to insane lengths when tormenting people.
