When Li Zishan entered the classroom, just as Lin Junyi had suspected, her attention was focused on him. She could feel his playful, teasing gaze, no different from an adult's, roaming over her body. She felt a surge of heat and a sense of awkwardness, her entire body straining and stiffening. Lin Junyi knew her humiliating secrets, and she felt guilty about facing him, no longer having the courage to reprimand him.
The first exam was Chinese. Lin Junyi glanced at it quickly; it wasn't difficult. He knew the literary basics, and he had no problem translating the classical texts. The dreaded part was the fill-in-the-blank questions related to the texts. The essay, which required only 600 words, was a bit of a challenge.
Lin Junyi glanced at the topic and decided to finish it first.
Li Zishan was surveying the exam room. Lin Junyi had told her he wanted to be in the top three in the class on the midterm exam. Although she didn't quite believe him, it was a matter of pride, so she couldn't help but check on Lin Junyi's impromptu answers. When she approached, she noticed he had actually started writing.
Most students would do the exercises first and then write the essay, but Lin Junyi reversed the order, which made Li Zishan feel relieved. Only those with weaker grades would leave ample time for writing, hoping to do well and score more points.
Li Zishan's face darkened as she glanced at Lin Junyi's excerpt. How dare he write such a thing?
There was no bell for the placement test; the exam lasted two periods of ninety minutes, plus a ten-minute break.
After Lin Junyi finished writing the essay and answering the questions, less than a class period had passed when he waved to Li Zishan.
Li Zishan approached and lowered her voice, "What are you doing?"
Her collarbone was delicately spread out at her neck. The heavy pendant on the dazzling silver chain hadn't dangled, tightly clamped by the bottomless, creamy ravine. One could only imagine how difficult it would be to pull a finger out.
Feeling Lin Junyi's uneasy gaze, Li Zishan felt a mixture of shame and anger. For a moment, she forgot the child's precociousness and hurriedly covered her collar.
She struggled to suppress the urge to berate Lin Junyi. Firstly, this was an exam room, and secondly, she felt a little guilty. Who knew what shocking words he'd burst out when confronted by a student who'd dared to tell the teacher he wanted to kiss her? Wouldn't that be even more humiliating?
"Take a look at me. How many points did you get?" Lin Junyi handed the paper to Li Zishan.
Li Zishan stood beside him, the distinct scent of milk from a nursing young woman wafting through her nose. The base of her tall, beautiful legs extended beyond the tabletop, strikingly revealing Lin Junyi's gaze, their curves sculpted to perfection.
Li Zishan frowned at Lin Junyi's paper, her brows furrowing and relaxing as she quickly scanned it. "Above forty,"
she said softly, but loud enough for everyone to hear in the quiet classroom.
Zhao Weiguo was delighted, and Zheng Yuanda even chuckled.
Ye Youyou glanced back, her eyes filled with worry.
"No?" Lin Junyi snatched back his paper, although there were many blanks white, but not so low a score.
Li Zishan finally took the opportunity to vent her anger. She had deliberately not lowered her voice just now. Seeing Lin Junyi's puzzled look, she pointed at his composition with her finger and said, "This composition got zero points."
Lin Junyi shook his head, pressed the paper, and did not hand it in early or revise it. Instead, he took out a piece of white paper and started drawing.
Seeing Lin Junyi drawing, Li Zishan remembered the scene in the painting room that day. Her face froze slightly, and she quickly left Lin Junyi.
Now Lin Junyi could only pray that Li Zishan was not the one to mark his Chinese test paper. He did not place too much hope on his Chinese score. Even if it was almost there, he would not care too much.
The second exam was English. The invigilator was Huang Yaohua, the English teacher of Class 3. He was a senior foreign language teacher who had also taught Russian. He was very famous in the entire Xie En Private Middle School.
Huang Yaohua glanced around the classroom. "This set of questions is quite difficult. Many of the new words are rare words you won't learn until the third year of junior high school, but the meanings aren't difficult to guess from the context."
Huang Yaohua handed out the test papers and focused his attention on several students in Class 3. Coincidentally, the top English students in Class 3 were in this exam room. Huang Yaohua didn't care if the other students were cheating or peeking; he just wanted to see how well his students were doing.
Huang Yaohua paced around the classroom, stopping occasionally to observe. He was particularly impressed by Zheng Yuanda's speed and accuracy, estimating he'd score above 90.
The students in Class 3 were significantly faster than the students in other classes, even Zhao Weiguo. Huang Yaohua had set the test, and his students were more accustomed to his style.
Hmm?
Huang Yaohua's eyes froze. What was this last-place student in the school doing?
Huang Yaohua walked over and saw Lin Junyi drawing!
"Answer the questions carefully...try to finish them before the end of the exam, and don't embarrass your teacher, Chen Xuewei." For a teacher, especially one as talented as Chen Xuewei, it would be deeply humiliating if a student performed poorly on a subject they taught.
"I'm done." Lin Junyi gave his drawn character a Latin name and then pulled out the test paper for Huang Yaohua to see. The
exam had only been going on for half an hour!
Huang Yaohua examined it skeptically, a look of disbelief on his face. "This essay...get out of here, don't disturb the others here."
Lin Junyi trudged out of the classroom, glancing back at Ye Youyou. Ye Youyou winked at him, and Lin Junyi understood and ran downstairs to wait.
With all twenty classes in the third year taking exams, and the first and second years also in class, Lin Junyi stood out by himself. After waiting for about half an hour, Ye Youyou ran downstairs.
Ye Youyou and Lin Junyi ran out of the school and came to the grass where Ye Youyou and Lin Junyi had lain together last time. The tea leaves around them were still dark green, densely covering the ground. This was a small world known only to the two of them.
Ye Youyou naturally took Lin Junyi's hand and sat down. Her hand was still warm and small. Ye Youyou took a lunch box from her schoolbag and said with a smile, "I brought some delicious food. My mother made it. It's really delicious."
