Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: I am Uchiha Mikage

Narukami Ogosho, being their good friend, even though he had long since passed away, his cave dwelling was naturally very familiar to them. Even without Vigilant Yaksha leading the way, they could find their way with their eyes closed.

When they reached an open area, they saw three people already waiting there. One of them was in Zhongli's form. The adepti were naturally very familiar with the Lord's human form; they were only unfamiliar with the name Zhongli.

But among the two people sitting beside the Lord, there was also a familiar figure.

"Shenhe? Why are you here too?" Cloud Retainer was very surprised. Didn't I tell you to go experience the mortal world? How did you end up by the Lord's side?

Shenhe did not answer, but merely bowed respectfully to her three masters, then stood silently behind the Lord.

Vigilant Yaksha's attention was not on Shenhe, but on the other person. He knew this person. For the past few days, he had been looking for an opportunity to tell the Lord that he wanted to go to Mondstadt to see Lord Barbatos, the Anemo Archon, for treatment, but he hadn't found a good opportunity.

Yet, after only a few days, the Lord himself came to them. The most crucial thing was, how did this kid get involved with the Lord?

"Greetings, Lord!" Cloud Retainer, Moon Carver, Mountain Shaper, and Xiao, in perfect synchronicity, bowed to Zhongli.

"No need for formalities. Cloud Retainer, Moon Carver, Mountain Shaper, and Xiao, it's been a long time. How have you all been?"

"Thanks to the Lord's blessing, we have been well recently. May I ask what instructions the Lord has for summoning us today, and why is my disciple Shenhe also here?"

"Cloud Retainer, do not be so hasty. You are still so impetuous; how have you not changed after so much cultivation? Before we discuss the matter, I will first introduce a young friend to my old companions. Yuto, you discovered this matter, so please explain it."

"Greetings, seniors. I am Uchiha Mikage; you may simply call me Yuto."

For the next period, Yuto explained his discoveries to the various adepti once again. Initially, upon hearing Yuto's account, they all wore expressions of disbelief.

However, when Shenhe once again untied a part of the red rope, a monstrous aura of malevolence, identical to that on Xiao, emanated from her. However, the malevolence on Xiao was even more complex and terrifying.

Watching the malevolent aura emanating from Shenhe, the three True Adepti involuntarily glanced at the Vigilant Yaksha beside them. With Xiao, a person who had suffered from the remnants of a God's resentment, as a comparison, they immediately knew that what Yuto said was true.

Shenhe was not born with the Solitary Star and Calamity fate; rather, she was merely a pitiable person tainted by the remnants of a God. Thinking of this, the three True Adepti and one adeptus involuntarily lowered their previously arrogant heads, and their gazes towards Shenhe revealed a hint of apology and guilt.

The three True Adepti felt this way because of their misjudgment. Although they had inadvertently saved Shenhe's life with the Red Rope Soul-Binding method, as Shenhe's masters, they had indeed caused her unspeakable DMG because of this matter. Moreover, being tainted by God remnants was akin to suffering from a terminal illness, which even the Lord could not remove.

Xiao's reason for guilt was actually very simple: the Lord had tasked him with clearing God remnants and protecting the people of Liyue. Yet, after a thousand years of "hoeing the ground," there were still some who slipped through and harmed the populace. More importantly, the Lord even found out. Isn't this like being caught slacking off at work by your boss?

When Yuto informed the three True Adepti that Lord Barbatos, the Anemo Archon, could purify God remnants, their eyes suddenly lit up with hope. Especially when they learned that Lord Barbatos, the Anemo Archon, enjoyed fine wine, they all eagerly offered the fine wines from their adeptal abodes, even starting to argue over whose wine tasted better.

Zhongli interrupted their argument, then pointed to the two jars of wine on the stone table and said, "Alright, no need to argue. These are the Osmanthus wines I personally brewed to celebrate the founding of Liyue. Let's use these. Shenhe and Xiao, since you are both patients, two jars of wine should be enough as payment for the treatment."
