Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Undetectable Extension Containers, Repaying the Growth Loan

In a vast, open space.

"Phew, finally finished copying."

Lucien looked at the three stacks of documents in front of him. Two were tall enough to reach his height, while the third was slightly shorter.

These were records on several magical creatures: Mooncalves, Snidgets, Acromantulas, Unicorns, Centaurs…

"System, these are observation records for five magical creatures," Lucien said, patting the shortest stack.

[System: Reviewing… Mooncalves, Snidgets, Acromantulas, Bowtruckles, Centaurs. All meet the requirements. The pet growth loan has been repaid.]

With that, the shortest stack of papers vanished.

Another loan paid off.

Now, Lucien had two loans left. One was for the Chimaera manual he'd recently borrowed, which required him to master biological chimeric transfiguration and create a Chimaera with traits from at least five creatures. The other was the "Diligent Little Gardener" loan—his Chinese Chopping Cabbages were growing nicely.

Last night, he'd stumbled upon a Mooncalf burrow in the Forbidden Forest and collected some of their dung. That should keep his plants fertilized for the next few days.

Lucien glanced around the empty space.

Once he crafted some compact, portable containers with the Undetectable Extension Charm, he'd capture a few Mooncalves. That way, gathering fertilizer would be much easier.

He pulled a few pebbles from his pocket and tapped them with his wand.

A desk and chair appeared on the open ground.

Sitting down, Lucien began writing a letter:

"Dear Mr. Newt Scamander,

Thank you for your guidance. I've successfully created an Undetectable Extension container capable of housing creatures…

I have a question: if I want to cultivate plants inside it, what growth factors should I consider?

Enclosed are my observation records on magical creatures. They may not be extensive, but I hope you can let me know if they're accurate…"

He folded the letter, slipped it into an envelope, and sealed it.

Summoning his pet, Luster , from its pet space, Lucien pulled out the small satchel from last time. He cast a basic Undetectable Extension Charm on it and stabilized the internal space with magic.

He directed one of the human-height stacks of documents to float into the satchel, then tucked the letter inside.

While Mooncalf and Snidget data were common enough, information on Acromantulas and Centaurs was harder to come by. With these detailed records, Newt would likely acknowledge Lucien's understanding of magical creatures.

Three-headed dogs like Fluffy were rare too, though Lucien only had data on one specimen. Still, it was decent—too perfect a record might seem suspicious.

The Unicorn data, especially on pregnant ones, was likely the highlight. That kind of information was rare.

He wondered if Newt had studied this area. These records might make a strong impression.

Lucien glanced at the satchel, then pulled a small cedarwood vial from his pocket.

It contained Acromantula venom—specifically from Aragog. Venom from an Acromantula of his age was rare and highly valuable.

A proof of his work, and a small gift for Newt.

Lucien slipped the vial into the satchel.

"Luster , visit Mr. Scamander during the day this time. Last time, going at night was a bit disruptive."

He hung the satchel around Luster neck, adding, "And don't forget to say hello to Mr. Scamander and Mrs. Tina for me."

"Got it, Master! I'll make sure to greet them properly," Luster replied.

Lucien nodded, then added, "You can chat with Mr. Scamander a bit if he's up for it. Tell him about your habits or hobbies. He'd probably love to hear about it, and I'm sure he'll keep it confidential."

"Of course, as long as he's willing to talk," Lucien said.

"Understood, Master! I could tell last time—Mr. Scamander's a good person. A really good person!"

Lucien smiled. Luster could sense the goodwill or malice in others, so it was no surprise that Newt, a Hufflepuff who'd spent his life dedicated to magical creatures and even helped Dumbledore thwart Grindelwald's plans, earned a "good person" card from the little Qilin.

"Master, should I head out now?"

"Can you leave from here directly?"

"I can. It feels like there's an extra barrier here, like part of the space is sectioned off, but I can still get through."

Luster Apparition was unique—not just moving through space but blending into it, like a fish swimming in water versus becoming the water itself.

More natural, faster.

Lucien patted Luster forehead. "Impressive. By the way, can you still not lock down a space to prevent other creatures from Apparating?"

"Not yet, Master. I think that's something I'll only manage when I'm closer to maturity."

That must involve a deeper mastery of space. No rush, though—locking down space wasn't urgent. Luster was still in its growth phase, progressing rapidly. Maybe in a few months, it'd get there.

After Luster Disapparated, Lucien turned to the open space.

"Time to build a house."

He pulled out a small cloth bag and untied it.

With a wave of magic, massive stones and logs flew out.

"These stones and trees from the Forbidden Forest are finally coming in handy."

Lucien flicked his wand, and the stones were cut into neat blocks or carved into columns. The logs transformed into planks or beams, assembling themselves in an orderly fashion.

With a twist of his wrist, stone bricks stacked into a foundation, and wooden beams snapped together with crisp cracks.

Transfiguration spells flowed as window frames sprouted intricate bronze designs and blue tiles shimmered onto the roof like scales.

The entire cottage went from foundation to finished in just a few hundred heartbeats.

Lucien tapped his wand, and a bell appeared on the door, chiming softly to mark the final touch.

Looking at his silver-black wand, Lucien couldn't help but marvel.

Magic was so convenient.

What would take Muggles weeks or months, he'd done alone in minutes.

This cottage was enough for now. He'd build a simple lab later when he had time.

For housing magical creatures, growing magical plants, or running more complex and risky experiments, portable Undetectable Extension containers were the way to go. They were easy to carry, easy to escape from if needed, and wouldn't cause much damage if something went wrong.

This place was just for resting and sleeping, after all.

Lucien glanced at the edge of the clearing, where two starry-blue curtains hung in midair.

He walked over and pulled them open.

Right on cue, he saw Terry in their dorm, packing up for class.

"Morning!" Lucien called out.
