Chapter 44 - Refusing the Martial Soul Hall Means Death

Four years later.

The scorching sun blazed, baking the ground until it cracked.

On the wide street, two figures stood side by side. They appeared to be twelve or thirteen years old. The boy wore a neat, black outfit.

The girl beside him had a scorpion braid that reached her calves. She was shorter than the boy, wearing a pink top. Naturally curved eyebrows and a pair of big, watery eyes, combined with her delicate features, constantly drew the gazes of passersby.

Those who were tempted to approach and flirt, seeing the boy whose arm she was holding, immediately dismissed the idea.

They were just ordinary people. To provoke a Soul Master? They wouldn't even know how they died.

Xiao Wu raised her hand and lightly brushed her slightly damp forehead, complaining, "What's with this weather? It's so hot. I feel like I'm about to melt."

Cheng Xiao smiled slightly and said, "You promised me this. After graduation, you'll return to the Star Dou Great Forest to cultivate diligently. Only when your Soul Power Level reaches Rank 60 can you return to human society. Otherwise, if you encounter a high-level Soul Master, you might become their Soul Ring and Soul Bone."

Xiao Wu rolled her eyes at Cheng Xiao and said, "How could you easily encounter a high-level Soul Master? Do you think Title Douluo are like cabbages, just lying around everywhere?"

"Isn't this for your safety? Don't you want Great Bright and Second Bright to lose you as their sister?" Cheng Xiao laughed, slightly amused.

"Of course not. Don't talk nonsense," Xiao Wu pouted. "When we left Notting Academy, Tang San invited me to a city called Soto City. He said Grandmaster recommended it to him. There's a place called Shrek Academy there, and supposedly, they only accept monsters and not ordinary people. I don't know if it's true."

"So, you want to go?" Cheng Xiao chuckled.

Hearing this, Xiao Wu hesitated slightly, then shook her head and said, "No, I only have a normal classmate relationship with Tang San. If you go, I'll go with you. If you don't want to go, I won't either."

Cheng Xiao thought for a moment and said, "I heard that the academy doesn't even have a ranking system. I guess it's just a third-rate academy, using the excuse of only accepting monsters to swindle tuition fees, right?"

Xiao Wu nodded and said, "Exactly! I don't know what Grandmaster was thinking, insisting that Tang San go to that academy. Before we graduated, several intermediate Soul Master Academies offered to accept us unconditionally."

Cheng Xiao chuckled, "Then let them be. I plan to train in the Star Dou Great Forest anyway, and it'll be a good chance to practice using the skills from my third Soul Ring."

Hearing this, Xiao Wu's eyes lit up. "Then let's go quickly!"

Cheng Xiao nodded slightly, glancing at the sun hanging in the sky. He estimated that it would set in a few hours. By then, he and Xiao Wu would probably have reached a small town near the Star Dou Great Forest.

Martial Soul City, Pope's Palace.

Bibi Dong, wearing the Nine-Curved Zijing Crown and a golden ceremonial robe, was leaning back on her throne, reviewing the Martial Soul Hall's documents.

Since her last visit to the Douluo Hall, Bibi Dong had to handle more and more matters daily. To firmly grasp the Martial Soul Hall in her hands, she needed to be personally involved in everything that happened within the Martial Soul Hall. Only in this way could she truly control the real power of the Martial Soul Hall.

"Your Majesty the Pope, according to the information sent back from the Notting City branch, apart from Tang San, the other two Innate Full Soul Power geniuses didn't go to Soto City with him, but instead went to the Star Dou Great Forest."

Suddenly, a golden light appeared in the hall, and countless golden petals fluttered down. Ju Douluo's figure silently appeared before Bibi Dong, kneeling and reporting.

"Alright, I understand." Bibi Dong, her face showing a hint of weariness, spoke softly, "Elder Ju, you handle this matter. Follow the original plan. If they can't join the Martial Soul Hall, then they must be eliminated."

"If a genius with Innate Full Soul Power can't serve the Martial Soul Hall, then other forces shouldn't even dream of having them, understand?"

"I understand, Your Holiness the Pope." Ju Douluo nodded slightly, then asked, "Your Holiness the Pope, should I head to the Star Dou Great Forest now?"

"Go. Use every method you can think of, try your best to get them to join the Martial Soul Hall. After all, they are geniuses with Innate Full Soul Power. It would be a pity to let them die so easily." Bibi Dong's eyes narrowed slightly as she continued to review the documents.

Ju Douluo Yue Guan respectfully acknowledged and then left the Pope's Palace.

"Hehe, a genius with Innate Full Soul Power. If we can control them, they will undoubtedly be a considerable force. But if we can't, then we'll have to destroy them."

A faint smile appeared on Bibi Dong's face, although it was filled with bone-chilling cold.

As the Pope of the Martial Soul Hall, she knew very well what could be done and what couldn't. Tang San was protected by Grandmaster and Tang Hao, so she couldn't make a move on him for now. But the other two? She didn't have as many concerns.

At the same time, in Soto City.

A boy entered the city through the west gate. He was plainly dressed, with a belt around his waist inlaid with twenty-four gems. Although he wasn't handsome, he seemed approachable.

Arriving at Notting Academy alone, Tang San couldn't help but feel somewhat down. He had originally planned to invite Xiao Wu to Shrek Academy with him, but she had ruthlessly refused.

Although Tang San didn't understand why Grandmaster wanted him to get closer to Xiao Wu, ideally to have her come to Shrek Academy with him, no matter how much he tried to persuade her, Xiao Wu's answer remained the same.

"I'm not going. Cheng Xiao isn't going, so I'm not going. If he goes, then I'll go too."

Tang San was very helpless about this. His relationship with Cheng Xiao wasn't good, but it hadn't reached the point of a complete falling out. However, after so many sparring sessions, he had never won a single time.

Therefore, he had a sense of rejection towards Cheng Xiao. Although he really wanted Xiao Wu to study at Shrek Academy with him, asking her to find Cheng Xiao and have him come along too… wouldn't that make him, Tang San, seem too humble?

So, Tang San began a solitary journey. Fortunately, he had been quite reclusive in his previous life, so he could accept being alone now.

Sigh, the exam's in two days. I guess I'll wander around for a bit. I'm also a little hungry. Looking at the couples holding hands on the street, Tang San felt even more depressed. He had originally planned to attend an intermediate academy, but Grandmaster insisted he come here. As a disciple who respected his teacher, he had no choice but to comply.
