Chapter 9 - The Divine Beast Wild Boar, Final Ten Seconds

Campione World, in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, at the Port of Sardinia.

A massive shockwave swept through the entire city, instantly reducing the modern metropolis to ruins, and the sea at the port churned with enormous waves.

From the perspective of ordinary people, they might only see a Natural Disaster.

But if those from the Magical World were present, they would surely discover that what appeared to be a Natural Disaster was, in fact, just a storm stirred up by a giant wild boar, over twenty meters long.

Its furious, unrestrained posture and powerful physique were more befitting of the name "god" than any clay or wooden idol in a temple.

Fortunately, the beast before them wasn't one of the Gods of Defiance, but a Divine Beast, a rank lower.

Unfortunately, even a Divine Beast was far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary magician to handle.

Although, Erica hadn't wanted to admit that before.

"Damn it! Is a Divine Beast really this strong?!"

Watching the enraged Divine Beast boar before her, Erica struggled to her feet, not daring to relax for a moment.

Earlier, she had received a call from her Uncle Saint Paul, saying that a God of Defiance had possibly appeared on Sardinia, and asking her to investigate.

With her Grand Knight level of strength, carrying out a reconnaissance mission like this was more than enough.

However, her uncle clearly didn't understand the drive of young people.

Erica, a genius since childhood, thought this kind of task was looking down on her. She decided to add some difficulty for herself.

For example, slaying a God of Defiance and becoming a Campione.

Perhaps because the Campione she'd encountered was a fool like the Sword King, her reverence for Campiones was lower than that of ordinary European magicians.

Even that brainless beast could succeed in slaying a God, so why couldn't she?

With this thought, she went directly to the location where the disaster had occurred.

She wasn't disappointed to discover that the troublemaker wasn't a God of Defiance but a Divine Beast.

"Before slaying a God, I can use a Divine Beast to practice!"

That was what Erica had thought at the time.

It wasn't surprising that she was feeling so confident. After purchasing Su Mo's Master-Level Magic Refinement Technique, her strength had indeed improved significantly.

Although she hadn't reached the Paladin level, she was much stronger than before.

If she had been at her previous strength, she would only have tried to stop the creature. But now that she had finally become stronger, her goals were naturally bigger.

Uncle is a Paladin who can hold back six Divine Beasts, so she should have no problem dealing with one, right?

With this simple thought in mind, Erica spotted the Divine Beast boar. Erica charged forward, already rehearsing her victory speech, and then…

Erica was instantly defeated.

A loud BOOM echoed.

She was directly hit by a shockwave, her body slammed into the ruins of a building.

Clearly, she didn't understand the gap between herself and the Divine Beast, the difference between First Rank and Second Rank.

Not to mention, even among the many Divine Beasts, the boar in front of her was among the strongest, not inferior to top-tier dragons and serpents.

In fact, if Erica hadn't gotten stronger, she might not have been attacked so fiercely.

After all, in the eyes of the Divine Beast boar, a mere Grand Knight was nothing but a mayfly.

But she had become several times stronger, and her hostility was so obvious, which meant she had evolved from an ant to an annoying mosquito.

The Divine Beast boar, representing the emotion of rage, naturally couldn't tolerate such a being and directly launched an offensive.

Fortunately, Erica had indeed become much stronger and had promptly used the Senate's magic to defend herself. Otherwise, she might not have survived this blow.

"Damn it!"

After barely managing to prop up her battered body, Erica suddenly realized that, aside from her own humiliating failure, something even more terrifying was awaiting her.

That was the slightly reddened eyes of the Divine Beast boar, and its constantly restless hooves.

Judging by this, it looked as though it had completely locked onto her, wanting to eliminate her entirely!

"It's just a poke to your nose, why are you holding a grudge?"

Feeling the threat to her life, and the overwhelming power of the Divine Beast, Erica despaired to find that she had almost no way to break the situation.

After growing stronger through the techniques given to her by Su Mo, she now had a thirty percent chance of successfully using the Sacred Utterance, which she hadn't been very confident about before.

If she could successfully use this Saint-level magic, she would gain the Divine Annihilation Privilege, enough to harm a God of Defiance.

With this privilege, she would definitely be able to deal effective damage to the Divine Beast.

But the problem was, the Divine Beast boar was so huge, and she was so small.

Relying on this magic to fight against the Divine Beast boar was like using a needle to challenge the Guan Dao.

"Even if you can kill me, I can still poke you..."

Isn't this just asking for death?

Having decisively abandoned this suicidal approach, she chose to admit defeat.

No matter how Lin would mock her afterward, she still had to ask for help.

So—

"Su Mo-dono, help meeeeeee!"

In the chat group, Rin Tohsaka's heart skipped a beat when she saw Erica's cry for help.

[Rin Tohsaka: "What's wrong, Erica? What danger have you run into?"]

At this critical moment, she was still very worried about her friend.

[Kanae: "Erica! Describe the situation first, so Mr. Su Mo can assess it."]

[Kanae: "If there's anything we can help with, please don't hesitate to ask!"]

[Madoka: "Yeah, yeah! If we can help Sister Erica, just say the word!"]

Erica's good relationships were paying off; everyone in the group was willing to lend a hand.

Without waiting for everyone to @ her together, Su Mo, who had just finished his insights, also popped up.

[Su Mo: "Report the crisis type, level, and acceptable processing time."]

[Su Mo: "@Erica."]

Unlike others, Su Mo's words contained no unnecessary comfort, only calm efficiency.

When Erica saw the concern of the others, a wave of warmth surged within her.

The girls in the group were truly good kids.

And upon seeing Su Mo's inquiry, for some reason, almost everyone in the group felt a sense of inexplicable reassurance.

Erica immediately began her report.

[Erica: "I've encountered an enemy, a Divine Beast, with a Second Rank level of strength! It has completely locked onto me; I can't escape!"] [Erica: "As for the time I have to deal with this... ten!"] [Rin Tohsaka: "Ten minutes?"]

Seeing Erica's interrupted message, Rin Tohsaka breathed a sigh of relief.

Things were manageable now; they should have time to discuss a strategy.

Given Su Mo's demonstrated intelligence, at the very least, he could help Erica find a way to escape, right?

But what she didn't expect was Erica's reply, which came immediately after.

[Erica: "Nine!"]

[Erica: "Eight!"]

[Rin Tohsaka: "..."]

So, you were counting down?!
