Chapter 64 - Chapter 63: Familiar Household

After an hour, Noah stepped inside and mimicked a trumpet call. "Da-Da-Da-Daaa! Hear one! Hear all! We have babies ready for everybody and Carl's head shall explode if you don't name them quickly." he laughed.

They all rushed out and around where they found Blaine waiting and clearly overly-prepared for the occasion. "Step up and form an orderly line please only one at a time. Klaire if you would like to head through and be ready to take pictures."

Everyone's spirits were raised by the theater and they formed an orderly queue. "First up is Alysse, if you would please head inside."

"Blaine, how long have you been planning this?"

"Ahem!... Eight years, ten months and seventeen days... Earth time of course." He grinned.

"You are a colossal beast-nerd, thank you for helping with everything."

"Yes I am and thank you kindly. Now move it, I can't wait to see, which one is yours."

She giggled and stepped round the corner, finding Carl holding a metallic looking slime.

"Careful, this guy is a little timid at the moment."

"Aww he's so cute..." She shouted in a whisper.

Carl explained that he was similar to Squidge, the difference being the other ingredients.

This one was made up with a gluttonous shifter, a slime, a greater mimic, a tinkering toy spirit and a suffocating mist-form.

Each was of course bestowed a health dose of divinity, though preparing all of them had brought his stockpile close to depletion.

 "Did you already na-"

"Nope you guys get to name both species and individual and know my pain."

"I'm calling the species Engineer's Delight and this one's my little Arti, like short for artifice." Alysse said immediately, ruining Carl's fun immediately and increasing Klaire's immediately.

Before she took it off Carl's hands, she ran outside and warned everyone scaring it would be fatal, then gently collected it.

"Sorry Blaine, I'll introduce you two after, my little Arti's a bit timid..." As she spoke, Arti began to splay out a bit more. "...But he's an extra cute baby." She added half squealing and making the partially solidified mass perk up.

When Alysse was out of earshot, Blaine continued without unreservedly. "Next up is, Blanc!"

Blanc tried to play it a bit cooler than Alysse, then he saw what looked like a large cable draped over Carl and thought he was being played.

"Sorry, this guy isn't a fan of the light, so he's kind of hiding in plain sight."

Carl explained that Blanc's was a mix of a lightning elemental, a Mordokian metal fairy, a mind-reading monkey, a calm-spirit and a draconic serpent that Bahamut had asked him to use as a pet soon to spare it from dying.

Carl also got a bit creative and sacrificed the data slate that he rarely used and which was why he needed Klaire to be a photographer.

"I admit it was a bit experimental, but I managed to create the ability I wanted to, this guy will help you bridge the gap between your mind and your computers. Be warned though, you can only stay inside for ten minutes per hundred-thousand INT or your brain will start to fry."

"Dude, that's next level cool, what's his name?"

Carl explained the naming thing and asked him to pass that news on, guessing that Alysse ran off incase Arti got startled.

"I'll call the species Dive Viper, this one's gonna be Link." Again his fun was destroyed, but Blanc was quick to explain. "Sorry dude, you left it too long and we have all been brainstorming ideas, we kinda all guessed what you'd make us so we can just personalise those."

Carl grumbled as Blanc took Link off of him and the pair posed for a photo, which Klaire struggled to take as she held her laughter back.

Next up was Gillian and Carl had gone in a very particular direction. Using a hellhound, a shadow lurker and two of his favourites, the gluttonous shifter and a calm spirit. topped off with an expensive use of Bahamut's fire.

The result was a wolf that existed as a sentient form of the fire, with the ability to effectively employ pack tactics, burn enemies and heal allies. It could also hide in shadows or simply coat Gillian to fuse their fighting power

The moment Gillian rounded the corner, he said "Platinum dire wolf and this guy is Scorch."

[ SCORCH HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO GILLIAN ]

"Just get on with the damn photo." Was Carl's only response, as he sent the fiery wolf over to Gillian.

As Gillian left Blaine shouted out. "Next up Lydia!"

As Lydia rounded the corner, the creature she saw was similar to a jellyfish, almost translucent as its tentacles draped over Carl and reached for Klaire.

Unlike the others however, Lydia's face contorted with suspicion. "Why do my senses feel numb?"

"Well, I thought it might be preferable to you, if you had a way to numb them when you were uncomfortable..." Carl replied, but neither him nor Klaire could make eye-contact.

"Uh-huh... Look you two, I appreciate the thought, but please don't make me go through life having to block my senses."

Klaire turned away, turning red, then spoke. "We'll try... But it was quite fun... No promises."

Desperate to change the subject, Carl explained her's was made using an Empirical Jelly, a spore bomb, the banked asklepian snake, a parasite spore and a mimic.

"It will numb your senses or others and you can utilise the mimic and spores to create pheremone traps with a physical component. You should be able to effect creatures usually immune to succubi abilities."

"Carl, it means a lot that you trust me with that, but d-"

"Shut up, yes we trust you, but this is as much to keep everyone safe from my aura as much as being a weapon for you. Overpowering Plutinas' made me realise exactly how dangerous mine could be if I lost control of it."

"Fine, just have your aura ready to do the same for me... Can I assume they heal rather than sting?"

"They do either, depends on what you tell them to do."

"Well then, I'll name the species jelly spirit and this one Healy." Carl's face lit up until Lydia cut him off. "Shut up, it's as cute as they are..." She trailed off, daring Carl to argue but the only response was a notification.

[ HEALY HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO LYDIA ]

"Good boy, now come along Healy, have to tell you all about Carl's childhood. Feel free to tell the others when you're playing.

She barely stopped long enough for a photo, before leaving the way she came.

"Next up, we have a pair of confused mums!" Blaine laughed.

As they rounded the corner, they were greeted with the last sight they expected.

"Honestly you guys got on so well with the originals I couldn't think of anything better for you two." As Carl spoke he petted both an all-seeing leviathan and a gluttonous slimedra. "Mum Leanna, I want you to take the Leviathan, I gave it them the same perception blocking ability that Levi earned later so this one may lean more towards stealth."

As the leviathan swam over, then around and between them both, it eventually coiled around Leanna the way Levi liked to coil around Carl and Klaire.

"She's beautiful, I'll call her Coral. Now Carl, if you use her to teleport in without asking or it being an emergency you'll be in trouble.

"Yes Mum and you get this little guy Mum." Carl said as carried the puddles out slime over to Alisha. "You missed out on baby Squidge, so thought this guy would make up for that and also know this guy can do just about anything you need him to."

"Aww, can't believe I missed Squidge being this tiny! "

"Honestly not sure why this one is, Squidge was bigger but this was doesn't relax as much, maybe a personality deviation?..." Carl trailed off in thought, genuinely curious as to whether he subconsciously wanted to make Squidge feel superior.

"Well, I'm gonna call this one lochán."

As the two of them walked off, Blaine shouted out once more...

 "Next up, Blaine and Noah!"

"Shut up already idiot..." Noah moaned.

Then when they rounded the corner they got a real surprise...

Carl was standing between two creatures which were almost identical, not only to each other, but also to Levi.

"What are these adorable little critters?" Blain squealed with the usual enthusiasm.

"You two get to name the species and your pets remember?"

Carl explained that whilst almost the same as the all-seeing leviathan line, they were modified and actually chimera grade, the reason being that Noah was the most autonomous member of the faction and often delved into other realms on beast hunts and Blaine had zero offensive ability.

The other creature species used to make it, Carl had named "all-consuming serpent". Made from a gluttonous shifter, shadow lurker, gorgon, asklepian snake and Tiamat's omni-flame.

"Oooo, oooo, ooo. Can I name the species?" Blaine asked with a raised hand that made everyone shake their heads.

"If we don't, you won't let us forget it, so get on with it." Noah groaned, with a hint of envy.

"Panoptic elemental leviathan and I'm gonna call my one Orm." Blaine said proudly as the others stewed in the anticlimactic mediocrity.

"I'm gonna call mine Reaga, since we will be spending most of our time realm diving... At least until I catch that jumped up bird... Speaking of which, I think we're done for now, give Blaine a list if you want to start working on your entourage." Noah said, trying to disappear before Blaine could drag him into a photo-op and failing.

"Reaga if he grabs me again paralyse him... Boss, Bossette, if you need just call, but farewell for now." Noah then successfully managed to slip away, though the three of them could hear him start to gush a bit as soon as he was out of view. "Boss! We got company!"

Noah's sudden alarm drew everyone outside where a realm gate was opening.
