Anna was about to join the confrontation when her phone suddenly rang. She glanced down and saw it was Grandma calling.
A chill ran through her as she answered, her voice tight with worry, "Grandma, what's wrong?"
Grandma's voice trembled with panic. "Anna, you need to come back quickly! I went out to buy some groceries, and when I returned… Kyle and Natalie are gone!"
Anna's heart skipped a beat, her whole body turning cold. Her children were everything to her, no one could touch them.
"Was there anything unusual when I left this morning?" she asked frantically.
Grandma thought for a moment and shook her head. "No… they were playing in the living room in the morning. After lunch, they said they were tired and went upstairs to sleep. I went out to buy groceries, and when I came back… they weren't there. At first, I thought they were still sleeping, but when I went up just now… they were gone."
Tears laced Grandma's voice, and Anna forced herself to stay calm.
