The knock came at the side entrance near Shannon's room.
Kim opened the door to find a lanky runner holding a sealed packet.
"From the vault," the man said. "They said it's important."
Tristan, who had been setting a basket on the table, glanced over. "Do you own the bank or the vault? How do you get information so quickly?"
Shannon shook his head. "No, I don't own either. But we have contacts who pass word when it matters. We keep ourselves updated so we can act fast."
The Alpha broke the seal. The faint scent of wax and ink rose as he unfolded the papers. He scanned the first page once, then read it more slowly a second time.
"A large withdrawal was made from the Mendez family vault," Shannon said. "Three nights ago. The record says it was authorized in Theodore Mendez's name."
Tristan stiffened. "That's impossible."
