Chapter 6 - Leaving

Levi concluded it was best to leave. He had maybe ten minutes before Noah finished showering, Or maybe fifteen, if he was the type to brood under the shower.

Either way, he needed to move.

He swung his legs over the side of the bed as his body ached with every movement. He wobbled his walk to the closet. Walking in, he picked a simple shirt and trousers that were the smallest here, but were still too big for him. It must be the man's old clothes, that were no longer his size.

After putting it on, Levi stepped out of the room and found the alpha's discarded trousers on a chair. He decided to fumble through the pockets, as his fingers quickly grabbed the thick wallet.

'Well' He didn't hesitate as he pulled a handful of higher denominations. 'Consider it hazard pay'

Levi slid out the door barefooted, while the shower was still running. And he quickly went into the elevator, not minding the cold.

Chime

He stared at his reflection after the elevator closed. Glancing at the numbers flickering as the elevator descended smoothly.

In his reflection, his eyes met the image of a young man, who was unmistakably his double if it were not for the hair.

The body in the reflection was smaller than his own, with shoulders slumping inward, making him appear forcefully fragile.

Levi adjusted his posture subconsciously. The stolen clothes hung loosely on this smaller frame, but they'd just have to do.

He traced the lines with his gaze, noting the curves of his new form. It was not pronounced, but they were there. It was one of the perks of being a male omega in this world.

The body's skin also had the same caramel skin that glowed faintly under the elevator's warm light. It gave him the look of an angel from hell.

But, if only he had been taken care of, all of these would have been so true.

The elevator chimed open as he briskly walked out. He quickly noted that this was a very high end hotel in the city, as even the lobby was all marble and screamed money.

He walked out the grand entrance as he quickly got a taxi that was almost stationed there.

"Somewhere cheap but clean" He told the driver immediately he opened the door and climbed in.

"Nothing fancy".

The man glanced at him from the rearview, taking in the expensive fabric and the exhaustion in his eyes.

"Bad night, huh?".

"Something like that" Levi responded as if he was lost in thought.

A few minutes later, the driver pulled away from the driveway, after dropping him off at another grand hotel.

Levi confirmed the error after his frustration in the hands of the receptionist. Well, the driver had misunderstood a simple directive for a 'cheap but clean' hotel, as merely a slight downgrade from his luxury.

Looking at his reflection on the glass, his causally dressing suggested he was a sick but promiscuous second generation wealthy omega. No wonder he was misunderstood.

After twenty minutes of trekking , he stood in front of a budget looking hotel he had asked for. It was cheap.. And forgettable.

He walked in into the lobby and slid cash across the counter.

"Room for how long?" The desk receptionist barely looked up from her phone.

"A week to start".

The room was small and perfect. A single bed with sheets that had seen better days, and a tiny bathroom that smelled like industrial cleaner, with a window that overlooked an alley.

Levi collapsed into the bed as he finally allowed himself to relax. His new body ached in so many ways.

The original host's memories kept unblurring in his mind. But first, he needed a phone.

The electronic store was a fifteen minute walk from the hotel. Why didn't he just buy it when he was coming?

Levi's story about dropping his old phone in water didn't help bring a discount, as the sales guy didn't even give a fuck.

But after Levi brought of cash for the cheaper, older model, the guy's smile brightened like a torch.

Within minutes, Levi walked out with a basic smartphone and a prepaid plan.

Back in his hotel room, he powered on the device and began retrieving the original host's accounts.

The inbox was mostly filled with spam and automated notifications. But buried deep in the messages were drafts and replies that painted a clearer picture.

Deleted conversation threads with Silas. The original host's memories flickered through his mind like his own. Years of being overlooked, dismissed and treated as expendable by his own family.

The original host had even tried reaching out occasionally over the years, to have a conversation online with his younger brother, about the holidays, and the dinners that had gone on without him.

The pattern was brutally clear. The original host had spent years trying to connect with a family that considered him an inconvenience.

"Well" Levi muttered, scrolling through Months of messages.

"No wonder the poor boy died with so much pain and heartbreak before I even got here".
