Chapter 49 - Heat

"So, why here?"

The air conditioning here was too intense that Levi's clothes began to feel stiff like paper. Levi leaned back in his chair, he slowly picked up the meat pie that was surprisingly still warm.

"Well, I would say for the money. They have the resources, and a very good distribution network."

She sighed deeply again. "Yeah. Same as me. That's what I thought." 

Levi paused, narrowing his eyes at the subtle shift in her tone. He stayed silent, waiting for her to confirm his suspicion herself.

"And look where that got me." She said in a depreciating way. Levi's eyes widened in amusement. "Seriously, why not RA?" She huffed in disbelief. 

"I know that your brother is there and all." She waited a little bit to gauge his reaction. But all she got was a blank stare back at her.

"They would seriously milk your tension with your family." She went on as she still got no response. "Which would benefit you really. Just like they are doing with your brother."
