Chapter 47 - New Skill

"Virtual Construction."

Ling An pondered, looking at this year's special critical hit bonus.

This was something that was hard to fully express with just words. Simply put, it allowed her to construct a virtual world for someone else, making it indistinguishable from reality, and trapping them within.

This skill was quite powerful. After all, most strong individuals weren't Androids; they needed to eat and sleep. If their minds were trapped in a virtual world controlled by Ling An, and they couldn't escape, their physical bodies in the real world could die from starvation or exhaustion.

But this thing had significant limitations.

First, beings with great strength and strong mental power had a high chance of breaking free. Second, beings like gods, who existed on a higher dimension than humans, could easily break free from Virtual Construction, even if they weren't as strong.

Even the Earth's guardian would likely be difficult for Ling An to trap using this method, given her current strength. It would be even harder with a Kai, Grand Kai, or the even higher-ranking Kaioshin and Gods of Destruction.

She couldn't trap the strong ones, and there was no need to trap the weak ones; a single combo would take them out. In this situation, this skill didn't seem very useful to Ling An right now.

But was that really the case?

Ling An believed there were only things that weren't used correctly in this world, never useless things.

Something that couldn't be used for combat didn't mean it was useless. After all, besides warriors, there was also the support class!

"Let me think, what exactly is this thing good for?"

Ling An rubbed her chin, silently pondering. Then... she slowly fell asleep while thinking...

It was only when the sound of Son Gohan's training reached her ears that she slowly opened her eyes.

She woke up feeling refreshed.

"Indeed, thinking about things is really conducive to sleep."

Looking at Son Gohan, who was training, Ling An's eyes suddenly lit up: "Why didn't I think of it? Virtual Construction is useless for normal combat, but it's quite useful for training!"

From the memories of the Martial Artist she had obtained previously, she knew that many martial artists in this world would choose to meditate for training.

Meditation isn't just about closing your eyes and resting. The "thinking" part is the most important. Some martial artists will mobilize their power during meditation, constantly familiarizing themselves with and mastering the power within their bodies. Others will constantly review past battles in their minds, or imagine new battles.

But no matter how they meditate, they can only rely on their own minds to imagine, and can't truly make it real. But Ling An was different. With Virtual Construction, she could build a virtual world in a person's mind that was no different from reality, based on the real world.

Wouldn't this be like a super-evolved version of meditation?

What does Son Gohan lack right now? He lacks anger, the anger that would allow him to break through to Super Saiyan 2. After all, at the moment, they couldn't find any other effective way for him to achieve Super Saiyan 2, so they could only rely on anger.

But anger... Son Gohan had tried many times, but there was never any result. This was because he was simply recalling past memories. It was difficult to fill the anger gauge. In this situation, would trying to use Virtual Construction to make Son Gohan relive the past, even experience more painful events, allow him to break through?

"It's worth a try, but I still need to ask Gohan's opinion. If he doesn't want to, I can't force him," Ling An needed to respect Son Gohan's wishes. After all, it was a terribly painful memory, and doing so now was like reopening his wounds.

Moreover, it wasn't just a matter of pure recall; Virtual Construction was equivalent to a virtual and yet real world, allowing Son Gohan to experience it again.

According to the system's introduction, since Virtual Construction could make people unable to distinguish between reality and illusion, it showed how realistic the constructed virtual world was. If Son Gohan were inadvertently trapped in the virtual world, although Ling An could cancel it at any time, it could also damage Son Gohan's spirit.

Son Gohan listened to Ling An's explanation and fell into deep thought.

After a while, Son Gohan raised his head and asked, "Ling An, do you believe in me?"

"Hmm?" Ling An was slightly stunned at the words, and then she reacted, smiling, "Gohan, I absolutely believe in you!"

Some things are better left unsaid.

Son Gohan wasn't confident about whether he would be trapped by the virtual world. After all, according to Ling An's introduction, it was a world even more real than the real one, even though it was fictional.

But as long as Ling An gave him a confirmation, he would pass the test of the virtual world smoothly with that confirmation.

"In that case, Ling An, I'm counting on you." Son Gohan took a deep breath, his determined face already prepared.

"Let's begin then!"

Ling An gently touched, and Son Gohan instantly lay on the ground. This time, she didn't completely construct a new virtual world. First of all, she wasn't too skilled, so she only guided Son Gohan's memories, allowing his past memories to become a virtual world.

In this virtual world, the memories of reality were blurred. Son Gohan relived his father's death, the arrival of the Androids who killed Piccolo and Krillin, and then, because of his anger, he transformed into a Super Saiyan. He fought the Androids again and again, watching humans being destroyed by them time and time again.

It was a mix of helplessness, unwillingness, and anger.

At this point, Son Gohan completely regarded the virtual world as reality. He trained diligently, striving to fight the Androids, but he was helpless every time.

"Damn it! If only I had the same power as the Androids, or even surpassed them!"

Son Gohan roared, training with all his might. He could feel his progress, even feeling like he was already stronger than his father, Son Goku, once was. But it wasn't enough, not nearly enough!

The Androids were too strong, not just in their terrifying combat power, but also in their seemingly endless energy, which made him shudder. Even if he possessed the same power, he couldn't compete with them, let alone when his own strength was still inferior to the Androids.

What should he do? What on earth should he do?

Battle after battle, defeat after defeat, each time pushing him to the brink of life and death. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't defeat the Androids, let alone beat them.

He was very unwilling, but even more, he felt powerless. The Androids were too terrifying and had gradually become an indelible shadow in his heart. Having enemies and opponents wasn't scary; what was scary was being unable to defeat them no matter how many times he tried. That was a despair that felt like it would never end!

Under these circumstances, time flowed quickly. Aunt Bulma's Trunks gradually grew up from his swaddling clothes, and he began to teach Trunks to train...
