Chapter 44 - No Need to Pay Attention

"Thank you, Grandpa," Noreen replied, lifting her chin proudly as Maria and Zahara helped her sit up straighter.

Once seated, she deliberately let out a huff in Nevaeh's direction.

She knew that with this pregnancy, the Bennett family's attention would turn fully toward her.

And sure enough, as soon as the old man heard the news, his interest in Nevaeh seemed to fade.

Maria and Zahara were just as delighted.

One was proud that her daughter had secured a place in the family even before marriage by becoming pregnant.

The other believed that the first great-grandson of the Bennett family would be born to her son, finally allowing their branch to hold their heads high before the old man.

They were certain that from the moment the child was born, all of the old man's focus would be on him, leaving no space for Cassius.

But Nevaeh wasn't even interested in Noreen's theatrics. She didn't care about the baby in her stomach, because it had nothing to do with her.
