"Old Master, look how affectionate the young master and young mistress are. You can rest easy now," Francis said softly as he closed the window.
The old man let out a long sigh. "Do you really think what you saw was real affection?"
Francis blinked in confusion. "You can't possibly mean… you think the young master is only pretending?"
With sharp, clear eyes, the old man's voice cut through the quiet. "That boy has kept Naya in his heart for three years. He almost lost his life for her. With feelings that deep, do you really think he could forget her and accept Nevaeh so quickly?"
Francis froze, suddenly realizing the truth.
The old man sat back, shaking his head with helpless sorrow. "He's only doing this to keep me from worrying. But Nevaeh… Nevaeh is a good girl. She's a blessing for the Bennett family. I will never allow any other woman, especially that Naya, to step into this house."
His voice rose, sharp and cold, leaving no room for argument.
