After saying goodbye to Samuel, Nevaeh walked out of the hospital, the evening breeze brushing against her face.
Just as she stepped outside, her phone suddenly buzzed. An unfamiliar number flashed on the screen.
"Hello?" she answered cautiously.
"Is this Nevaeh? Yes, yes, it's Evan." The voice on the other end was rushed, almost trembling. "I'm terribly sorry about this morning. It was all a misunderstanding! Please don't be upset. I'm calling to let you know that your competition will continue as planned. It won't be canceled."
The line went dead before Nevaeh could even respond.
She froze, staring at her phone in shock.
She had already prepared herself to go to the academy tomorrow, to confront the academic office and explain everything in person.
If that didn't work, she was even ready to escalate things further. She wasn't the type to give up so easily.
But she never expected… they would call her. Not only reinstating her place but also apologizing.
