Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Tiana's voice echoed through the silent classroom, and everyone, including me, turned to look at her.

With her short brown hair and hazel eyes, she looked so sweet.

She spoke again with a slightly frightened expression. "W-what's going on here?"

The Prince let go of my collar and ran to Tiana's side. When I glanced at Frances and Charles, they were also heading toward her.

As soon as he let go of my collar, I automatically fell back into my seat and my tailbone throbbed painfully.

You lousy prince, one day I'm going to kick you so hard…

"Tia, I was so worried about you," the Prince said gently.

"I'm sorry." Tia's trembling voice cracked as a few tears rolled down her cheeks. "I didn't want to make you worry."

Don't exaggerate!!

Why don't you just faint while you're at it, drama queen!!

I must've made a mistake while writing this female lead.

"Oh don't be sad, Tia, it's fine!" the Prince said. And what about me? My butt hurts, apologize to me already!

Could my hip bone be broken? Is it even normal for it to still hurt this much?

Charles stayed silent.

I didn't know why, but he looked furious. Normally, all his anger melts away whenever he's near Tiana.

Oh no, is this my fault too?

I guess the Grim Reaper really likes me!

Frances looked at me for a while. Maybe he realized he'd treated me unfairly.

'Is he going to apologize?' I thought, but he turned his gaze away from me and back to the crying Tiana.

"So, can I try your cookies?" he asked.

Tiana's mood brightened instantly, and she stopped crying, speaking with excitement.

"Of course, I made them for you!"

Of course, no one's going to apologize to me.

Honestly, I wasn't surprised. I'm the villainess of this story. No matter what happens, I'm always the first suspect.

Even if I didn't do anything wrong, no one would ever say sorry to me.

I'll just have to get used to it.

Not that I really cared, but I still couldn't understand why this event even happened when it wasn't in the original story.

Apparently, not everything that happens here is limited to what I wrote.

Looking through Heather's memories, I can see so many interactions with characters who never appeared in the novel and plenty of events that never took place in my original plot.

Of course, none of these things affect the main storyline.

~

After the morning's chaos, school passed quietly.

While Tiana flirted with the other male leads, I sat quietly at my desk, working on ideas for my new novel.

Even if I'm stuck inside a story I wrote, I can't stop being a writer. Naturally, I wrote everything in Italian. This way, even if someone saw my notes, they wouldn't understand a thing.

Haha, you losers!! I know a language none of you can read!

Still…being alone kind of stung. Villainesses usually have a solid group around them, but Heather was always a lonely villainess.

Because instead of making friends, she chose to cling to the Crown Prince.

Some people did try to befriend Heather, since she was a high-ranking noble, but she always turned them away.

All she ever thought about was Julius.

From now on, I'll focus on making some friends.

After school ended, I went straight to my dorm room. My tailbone hurt so badly that I had to limp the whole way. It wasn't that big of a deal, except for the part where that jerk Charles started laughing at me.

Seriously, he gets on my nerves. I ignored him though, and once I reached my room, I kept working on my novel draft.

Tomorrow's the weekend, no classes, which means I can write all night if I want.

Just the thought of it makes me excited!!

After Sara thinking I was asleep, left my room, I waited a little, then got up, turned on my light and prepared for a long night ahead.

~

Heather stayed up the whole night, writing until morning. When dawn came, she finally lost the battle to exhaustion.

She had barely slept for even an hour when persistent knocking on the door made her curse under her breath.

'Is Sara coming this early? It's a day off, why is she knocking over and over? Normally she knocks once and just comes in. She doesn't expect me to open the door while I'm asleep, does she?!'

As she quickly ran through all these thoughts, Heather realized something.

'The person knocking isn't Sara!'

Not wanting this to turn into a full-blown horror movie scene, she casually went to open the door.

Standing there was none other than Charles Exeter. Heather couldn't control her irritation.

She looked at the young man with tired eyes, mentally hurling some of the most creative Italian curses she knew.

Charles's point of view

I don't even know why I'm doing this, I hate that girl!

The one who bullies Tiana is just like a demon. And that Crown Prince, who uses Tiana, is no better.

Honestly, they'd make a perfect couple!

Ever since I spoke with her yesterday, she hasn't been cruel to Tiana, but I'm sure that's just because she's scheming something again.

I looked at Heather's notebook in my hand. I couldn't sleep all night, torn about whether or not to give it back.

In the end, I decided to return it, though I don't even know why.

I knocked on the door quickly, I needed to get this over with and go stop my sister's date with that guy.

I'll never let her end up with him.

After a moment, the door opened. Expecting a maid, I was surprised to see Heather herself. She was obviously half-asleep.

Did I come too early?

"What are you here for?" Her voice was cold, and her irritation was obvious.

How could she speak so rudely to me after I came all this way to return her notebook?!

"Is this how you normally treat someone who does you a favor?!" I snapped, thrusting the notebook at her.

At first, she didn't get it. She stared at the notebook for a few seconds, then flipped through the pages. Finally, she looked up at me in shock.

"You…did you steal my notebook?! I didn't think you'd go this far."

"Don't be ridiculous! Why would I steal your notebook?! You dropped it yesterday when you were hopping around like a frog. I noticed and decided to give it back to you."

"Frog?! How rude. If you want to use the right comparison, you should've said I was hopping like a rabbit."

"That's seriously what you're worried about?!"

She stayed silent for a moment, lowering her head. Then, looking embarrassed, she glanced back up and spoke.

"Um, I see. I'm sorry for misunderstanding. If I think about it, it wouldn't make sense for you to steal something and then bring it back."

Did…did this girl just apologize to me?!

I've never once heard this arrogant girl apologize before.

Hiding my surprise, I looked away. "I'm not a thief. Why would I steal from you?!"

She gave a small laugh. "You're right. Thanks for bringing it back. I was mad because you woke me up, but not anymore. If you'd like, you can come in. I'll make you a cup of tea!"

That's when I finally really looked at Heather.

She was still wearing her nightgown!!

I quickly turned my head away and spoke in a rush.

"What…what do you think you're doing?!"

Heather looked confused. "What do you mean? Is inviting you for tea bad manners?"

"You're wearing…your nightgown, you idiot!"

"I just woke up, isn't that normal? Why is your face red?"

My face isn't red!!

"Are you crazy? The only man who should ever see a woman in her nightgown is her husband."

"What? That's ridiculous. And it's not even that revealing! It's just my legs and collarbo-"

She froze mid-sentence. "I'm such an idiot." She slammed the door in my face and spoke from behind it.

"Let's have tea another time. Goodbye!"

Never in my life did I think I'd see Heather Federline in her nightgown.

I stood there stunned for a moment before remembering I needed to get back.

I have to stop my sister's date with that guy! This isn't the time to be thinking about Heather.

Actually, I don't want to be thinking about her at all.

Heather's point of view

How stupid can I be to forget we're in a medieval setting?

Of course, the common sense of my world and this one would be completely different.

Looking through Heather's memories I understood even better, but it's too late now.

Charles has already seen me in my nightgown. Hopefully, he doesn't tell anyone.

Not that he seems like the type who would.

If he does, I might be forced into marrying him and he definitely wouldn't want that!

And…his blushing face was actually kind of cute.

No no no, stop!

What am I even thinking?! I must be talking nonsense because I'm so tired. That guy is Heather's future killer!

I'd better just go back to sleep.
