Chapter 19: Disciplining the Vicious Criminal (1)

Man-hunter Lennox.

Since childhood, she considered men inferior, and as she grew older, this belief turned into outright hatred toward men. She believed men should never try to compare themselves to women and should always keep their heads down. Even making eye contact was forbidden; if a man broke this taboo, she would make him pay with bone-breaking pain as an apology.

Believing this was right, Lennox would randomly assault men she encountered on the street, basking in her own power and building a sense of superiority over her victims. There were, of course, women who couldn't stand her brutality, but Lennox saw even those who protected men as nothing more than animals in heat.

She crippled every woman who opposed her, and her growing infamy attracted followers, allowing her to build a formidable criminal organization in the city, rivaling a military division in size. But this organization was eventually crushed by the "Three Knights" who served Renes, and Lennox, as their leader, was sentenced to life imprisonment for her many crimes.

Unless she repented and was reformed, Lennox would never see the outside world again. Her story, for a time, seemed to have ended with this conclusion1

"Ha, you want me to fight in the arena?"

In the prison for violent criminals, Lennox, now the boss among inmates, spent her days in boredom until one day, the city's lord, Renes the very person who locked her up came to visit. Lennox, who would have liked nothing more than to slit Renes's throat, could only scoff at the offer.

"It's not a bad deal for you. If you put on a good show, I'll reduce your sentence from life to ten years."

"Ha, as if! If I mess up again, you'll just throw me back in here. You call that a negotiation?"

Even with a life sentence, a promise to reform could bring parole, but Lennox had no intention of repenting. She was just waiting for a chance to unleash the sadism she'd bottled up in prison beating men to death, killing women who protected them, living for violence and blood.

"You haven't changed at all. You'd think a few years in prison would have taught you something."

"Just get lost. If you keep showing off with your precious knights, I might just kill you."

"Why do you hate me so much? I don't care much for men either, you know."

"...Disgusting bitch."

Lennox's hatred was sincere and unfiltered. If it weren't for the Three Knights by Renes's side, Lennox would have killed her long ago. But Renes didn't care about the criminal's irritation. What mattered was making the arena a success, and a criminal like Lennox was the perfect spice for the show.

"By the way, your opponent will be a male gladiator."

"What? A man as a gladiator?" Of course, this man-hater would be interested.

Renes, confident, continued with a sly smile. "To spice up the show, we brought in a male gladiator. He did well in his first match, so this time I want something even more intense."

"So you picked me to make the show more exciting?"

"If you don't like it, you can refuse. I can always find someone else..."

 Crash!

The bars of her cell rattled violently as Lennox crushed them with her powerful magic, tearing them apart. Showing off her strength, she stepped out, excitement clear in her eyes.

"Perfect. A chance to beat a man to a pulp in front of a crowd? I don't care about my sentence. If I can unleash my violence, I'd sell my soul to the devil."

Renes knew she'd accept. As soon as the deal was struck, the city's ruler felt a thrill no matter the outcome, this would be the most sensational show yet1

That's how Lennox ended up in the arena, flexing her gloved fingers and scanning the crowd. The presence of a male gladiator was unprecedented, and the audience was much larger than she expected, with even men who normally wouldn't care about the arena in attendance.

Perhaps they were just there to humor their girlfriends. Lennox didn't like the idea of men muddying the sacred battleground of female warriors, but then again, showing weak men getting crushed could be a good way to keep them in their place.

Standing at the center, Lennox shouted, "Listen up, brats! By contract with the lord, I, Lennox, will be fighting that man over there."

She pointed at her male opponent. "And I won't be holding back. The lord knew what kind of woman I am when she called me here, so blame her for whatever happens."

Her declaration sent shockwaves through the crowd mostly hatred and contempt. But Lennox also sensed a hidden excitement: people wanted to see a man humiliated, begging a woman for mercy.

"Did you wear that to seduce the women?" she sneered, mocking the man in his cape and skimpy armor.

"Um, I didn't choose this. The lord made me wear it."

"Excuses. You could have refused. The fact you're wearing it means you don't hate it that much, right?"

"No, that's not "

"Either way, you're already submitting. That's the problem with men: no backbone, just doing whatever women say."

If she had her way, she'd extract men's seed for reproduction and send every last one to the slaughterhouse.

"Listen up. I'm going to beat you down, kick your head, drag you to the corner, and beat you until you're covered in blood for everyone to see. Sound fun?"

A genuine threat, not just bravado. Every man she'd faced before had surrendered in tears at such threats after all, men could never beat women in this world, and their only option was to beg for their lives.

"...Doesn't sound fun, but I do know one thing."

But the man in front of her didn't flinch. He calmly raised his club and said,

"I have no reason to go easy on you."

Mercy from a man to a woman? Unthinkable. It meant he was withholding compassion, which could only be seen as him looking down on her.

"Hahaha! Good, good! If the lord called you here, you'd better have some guts!"

Crushing such an insolent man would be a pleasure.

As if in response, Lennox's mana surged, swirling around her and intimidating the entire arena. Only the Three Knights who served Renes could match her, and certainly not a man.

"Let's have some fun!!!"

She leapt at him, certain he'd be crushed.

But the man calmly readied his club, and as he did, it vibrated with a thunderous sound. Lennox's eyes widened as she sensed the aura rising from his body.

"W-what...?"

Mana surged far more than she thought a man could muster, even more than what she could focus into her fist.

 BOOM!!!

His blow knocked her punch aside and struck her face, sending her crashing to the ground.

"Ke... heuk... What..."

A man sent her flying?

No, impossible. Men are inferior to women. That's the unchanging truth of this world how could she be knocked down by his attack?

 BOOM!!!

But Aid's club struck her again, crushing her beliefs.

"Guhk!!!"

As the air was squeezed from her lungs and exhaustion overwhelmed her, she faintly heard his voice.

"Helia, who taught me to fight, once said something."

The very woman she thought unbeatable had trained him.

"She said that my talent surpasses even hers."

Even as a man, his potential was far greater than hers.
