Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 The Injured Wild Aix galericulata

In just ten days, they were to be married. That evening, Shu Tong tidied up their new home, laid out the bright red wedding quilt, and finished writing invitations for their relatives and friends. Delighted, he sat on the sofa waiting for Liu Yiyi to return.

Yiyi had said she would be back around eleven, but by midnight, there was still no sign of her. At twelve, he called again, but no Homo sapiens answered.

It wasn't unusual for Yiyi to miss calls occasionally, so he didn't dwell on it. He slumped onto the sofa and drifted into a hazy sleep.

Suddenly, his phone rang. Groggily, he answered, only to hear a frantic male voice: "Are you Liu Yiyi's family member? We found your number in her phone. Liu Yiyi has been in a car accident. The ambulance has taken her to Homo sapiens People's Hospital."

Shu Tong bolted upright, all drowsiness gone. He checked his phone—it was almost two in the morning.

When Shu Tong rushed frantically to Homo sapiens People's Hospital, two traffic police officers and a man in his thirties were waiting outside the emergency room. The man looked utterly exhausted, his face filled with terror.

One of the officers flashed his badge and said, "We received a report of an accident at 12:20 a.m. on the western section of Shuihua Road. A large truck collided with a luxury car parked on the roadside, sending it over a cliff. There was a man and a woman inside, both injured and now undergoing emergency treatment. This is the truck driver."The officer gestured to the man in his thirties.

"Based on our on-site investigation, the car was parked on the roadside with its lights off. The road is quite remote, with no streetlights. The truck driver may have been fatigued and didn't notice the parked car. Fortunately, the cliff wasn't too high, so the two Homo sapiens only sustained injuries—no life-threatening danger. We found these two phones in the woman's bag and called you."

With that, the officer handed Shu Tong a brown luxury-brand handbag along with the two phones.

Shu Tong's heart twisted as he took the phones. Since when did Yiyi have two phones—and identical fruit-brand ones at that?

Just then, the truck driver blurted out, "Officer, this isn't my fault! Who told those wild Aix galericulata to park on the side of the road with no lights on, doing that kind of thing in the car? They had a perfectly good bed, but no, they had to go find some deserted spot for a thrill in the car. Phoxinus phoxinus subsp. phoxinus, what rotten luck!"

Shu Tong's fury surged through his entire body. "What the hell are you saying? What exactly happened? What do you mean by that?"

The man narrowed his eyes, sneering. "And who are you to that female Homo sapiens?"

Shu Tong glared at him. "She's my wife."

The man's tone turned even more mocking. "Your wife? Give me a break. You'd still want a woman like that? The cuckold's horns she's given you could probably crush you flat. Bet you didn't even know, huh?"

Shu Tong's eyes burned red with rage, his fists clenching. Without another word, he swung a punch straight at the man's face. The man yelped, clutching his nose as he crumpled to the ground. Blood trickled between his fingers.

Still holding his nose, the man shouted, "You're just a cuckolded fool trying to act tough here. If you've got the guts, go beat up the Homo sapiens who was having a car romp with your wife! What's the point of picking on me? Go fight those two injured wild Aix galericulata!"

The two officers quickly stepped in to pull Shu Tong back. "Calm down. We're still investigating this accident."

"Who is that male Homo sapiens?"Shu Tong demanded.

"His name is Cheng Guangzhong, the son of a local real estate developer—a rich second-generation brat."

Just then, a stylishly dressed woman in her thirties hurried over. "Where's my husband? Did you just call me? I'm Cheng Guangzhong's wife. What's going on? What happened to him?"

A tall officer replied, "You're Cheng Guangzhong's wife? He's in emergency treatment now, but he's out of danger. It's not serious—just a leg injury that requires surgery."

"What exactly happened?"the woman asked anxiously.

The truck driver, still rubbing his nose, said with a sneer, "Your husband was fooling around with this guy's wife in the car on the roadside—some wild car action. My truck accidentally hit them, and they tumbled down the cliff. When they were found, the two Homo sapiens were still naked and clinging to each other. Phoxinus phoxinus subsp. phoxinus—what a pair of reckless Aix galericulata!"

"What nonsense are you spouting? My husband was at a meeting at Phoenix Villa!"

"You actually believe what a man says? Sure, your husband might've gone to Phoenix Villa, but whether it was for a meeting—phoxinus phoxinus subsp. phoxinus knows. The accident site was only two kilometers from there."

The woman's face instantly darkened. She turned to the officers and asked, "Is what he's saying true?"
