The spy didn't waste a second.
The moment the raven disappeared into the clouds, he slipped out of the fortress grounds and moved fast through the forest trails, taking the hidden paths that only scouts used. His footsteps were silent, practiced. His breathing never changed pace. He had been trained for missions like this, watch, report, destroy.
By the time he reached his pack's border, dawn was fully broken. Warriors stationed at the gate recognized him immediately and stepped aside. No questions. No greetings. They all knew he had gone on a mission, and the tension in his face told them everything they needed to know.
He walked into the council hall straightaway.
Their Alpha, a tall, rigid figure with dark eyes and no patience, was waiting.
"Well?" the Alpha demanded.
The spy didn't sit. Didn't bow. He simply spoke.
"She's weakening."
The room shifted instantly. Warriors murmured. Advisors leaned forward. But the Alpha stayed still, eyes fixed, jaw tightening.
"Explain."
