Kael sat on the stone bench behind the west wing, elbows resting on his knees, eyes fixed on the quiet courtyard. The moonlight touched the edges of the walls but not him. Dante approached and sat beside him without speaking. Silence settled between them, heavy enough to explain everything they were both thinking.
Everyone had seen what happened with Liora. The entire palace had talked about nothing else.
Dante exhaled sharply. "You saw the way she kneeled. Instantly without hesitation."
Kael didn't react with humor. His jaw stayed tense. "It isn't normal," he said quietly. "I don't care what kind of magic broke inside her. An Alpha doesn't behave like that."
"So Gonzalo is the Alpha now?" Dante raised a brow, though his tone carried more truth than sarcasm.
