After struggling to get out of bed, Vitt saw two bloodstains on the sheets. Seeing the oranges, he knew who the two women from yesterday were.
He wobbled to the inn's hall, ready for lunch, and saw that five people had already started eating.
His little apprentice, Ashara Dayne, the burly Thoros, Ellery Hightower, and also his fiancée, Nymeria Martell, whom he hadn't seen in years but only corresponded with through letters, along with her sister Tyene Sand.
Vitt hadn't expected to meet Nymeria and Tyene again under these circumstances. Feeling somewhat awkward, he didn't dare look at them. After sitting down, he asked Thoros, "I almost got poisoned yesterday!"
"Impossible! My room was right next to yours. I heard you all having a good time all night," Thoros said while eating. Ellery, being older, just smiled beside him.
All four were mages. When Vitt taught them magic, he also emphasized the weaknesses of mages: close combat and poisons. Therefore, except for Ellery, the others were now both magic and martial artists, plus they researched methods to deal with various poisons. Now, they could just use healing spells to withstand ordinary poisons, so they weren't very worried.
"And you, little apprentice, why didn't you tell me they were here?"
"I knew Nymeria and Tyene in Dorne a long time ago. Who in the whole continent doesn't know that Nymeria is your fiancée? She told me she wanted to give you a surprise tonight and asked me not to tell you," Ashara confessed truthfully to Vitt.
Vitt looked at Nymeria and Tyene, feeling awkward with these "light bulbs" present. He didn't know what to say.
"Shall we go shopping in the city after we eat?"
"Then eat quickly. We've been waiting for you for a long time," Nymeria said with a smile.
The three of them walked on the streets of Highgarden, preparing to go to House Tyrell in the inner city. Renly was also here today. Vitt quietly glanced at the two girls beside him.
Nymeria Martell, walking on his right, was three years older than Vitt, and about the same height. She had a slender figure with curves in all the right places. Like Vitt, she had black hair and black eyes, and full lips; her face was beautiful. Her hair was braided into a long braid with red-gold strings intertwined, making her look a bit like Angelina Jolie.
The younger sister on the left, Tyene Sand, was only up to Vitt's shoulders. She was a beautiful girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. Unlike her sister's wildness, Tyene appeared quiet and sweet.
Thinking about how the three of them had become intimate yesterday, Vitt became bolder, putting an arm around each of their waists.
"Hey, these are the poisons that got me, right?" Vitt groped around Tyene's waist, and found some small bottles hidden under her clothes.
"Yep, didn't you write to me before about Alchemy? Didn't we often exchange ideas about poison-making techniques?" Tyene smiled. She still reached out to tug on Vitt's clothes, just like when she was little.
So, he poisoned himself with his own medicine! He had been thinking that Tyene was good at poisons in his original world, so he discussed Alchemy with her. Now, she was making poisons using Alchemy methods, and he couldn't defend against it.
"And you, Nymeria, doesn't it weigh you down carrying so many Throwing Knives?" Vitt felt them when he groped Nymeria's waist.
"With Tyene's help, each knife is coated with a different poison, and they're very small now." Nymeria naturally intertwined her hand with Vitt's wrist.
"How are the two of you together? What about your other sisters?"
"Ever since we got engaged, my other sisters have become somewhat distant. Only Tyene has stayed with me; her public identity is my handmaiden. Also, let me tell you, Tyene is much better than you. You only know a few moves." After Nymeria said this, she touched Tyene's face. Tyene smiled and winked at Vitt.
"Wow, so open! Good thing it's not about finding a man."
Vitt was a little surprised, and a little excited.
"So, how did you even meet Ashara?"
"Didn't you mention a potential apprentice in your letter? We often travel around Dorne, and we went to Starfall once. She was clever and quick-witted. We stayed there for a few months and taught her some spear techniques, throwing knives, and how to use a dagger."
"I've never seen her use them."
"The little girl learned House Dayne's swordsmanship, and she already carries two swords. She couldn't carry more."
"House Dayne's swordsmanship is indeed formidable. I even learned a few moves from Arthur Dayne when I was a child. It's a pity they haven't produced a new 'Sword of the Morning' yet."
The three of them walked down the street, the distance of their letters quickly fading as they slipped back into the easy camaraderie of childhood, only now closer than ever. Passersby didn't bat an eye, Dorne women were just like that, it was common in the city.
Inside Highgarden, the guards had been informed of Vitt's arrival in advance and led him directly to the reception room.
Willas Tyrell sat in a wheelchair, taking a gold pocket watch carved with a rose pattern from his shirt pocket. He opened the watch, revealing gems embedded at each hour marker, and looked down at the time.
"Why isn't Vitt here yet?"
Renly also pulled out a gray-black pocket watch engraved with the Baratheon crown and stag sigil and checked the time. "Vitt used to be punctual, always alone. Now he's got three mage apprentices with him. I heard they caught the con artist in the city today, so a little late is fine."
"I'm here now!"
Vitt's voice came from outside the reception room door.
The two turned to see Vitt enter, followed by two women dressed in Dornish attire. Willas looked inquiringly at him, while Renly seemed to be reminiscing.
"Let me introduce you. This is Willas Tyrell, the eldest son of Lord Mace of House Tyrell," Willas said as he nodded slightly from his wheelchair.
"This one, you can tell who it is just by looking at him. It's Lord Renly Baratheon," said Renly, nodding in greeting.
"This is my betrothed, Nymeria Martell, and this is my betrothed's sister, Tyene Sand."
Renly was surprised. "So it's you! I was wondering why you looked familiar. You're my brother's betrothed, aren't you?"
The four of them represented the three major powers in the south of Westeros. They usually communicated through business letters, but hadn't met in person with the people from Dorne. They were familiar strangers.
"Is Vitt here?" Margaery walked in then.
"The Little Rose of Highgarden, you're looking more beautiful every day, though it seems you haven't grown much, haha." Vitt replied.
Margaery gave Vitt a fake smile. "I heard the Archmage had arrived, so I came to greet you. But why didn't the Archmage fly in through the window?"
"Actually, I have a secret. I'm not just a mage, I'm also a warrior. I stand firmly on the ground."
Renly, seeing the two were about to start bickering, took the initiative to change the subject.
"I say, Willas, you sit in that wheelchair every day. Aren't you afraid of getting hemorrhoids?"
"Sitting is more comfortable than standing," Willas said with a smile.
Magic light flickered in Renly's hands, and the wheelchair began to spin in place. Willas jumped up from the wheelchair immediately.
"Again! Let's spar with our fists!"
The four young people from House Tyrell, along with Renly and Vitt, were close in age and often interacted with each other, so their relationship was very good. They often horsed around, as teenagers do.
Willas had his leg broken by Oberyn's horse at the jousting tournament the year before and had been using a wheelchair for a while. Renly had healed him when he arrived, but he insisted on using the wheelchair. In his words, some people would be saddened to see him in a wheelchair, while others would jump for joy, and those who jumped high would bump their heads.
Nymeria approached Vitt's ear and whispered in a gentle voice:
"That little girl likes you!"
Vitt understood the situation clearly. "Everyone in the continent knows I'm betrothed to you. Once she's grown up and married, she won't think about me anymore."
