I felt their eyes on me the moment the large double doors swung open. The hall, or throne room as Kaedyr had described it, was larger than life itself. Banners with inscriptions hung from the high ceiling; gold sconces attached to the stone walls burned with silver-blue flames.
My face scrunched up in confusion as my eyes panned the room. Why the hell were they burning incense and fire in the room? What did that symbolise?
I knew my attention should be on the people that wanted to question me but I couldn't help the way my eyes wandered the room and the way every piece and every pillar was shaped in a way to make people feel small. Was this supposed to be intimidating to an outsider?
I guess so, but they needed to do better if the aim of bringing me here was to bully me.
