Chapter 71 - GOING THROUGH THE MOTION.

The oath bond ritual ended well past midnight. We were instructed by the High Priestess not to let go of each other's hand until we were home. So the walk back to the palace was beyond awkward. Holding hands with a man I'd rather I didn't have to deal with, in the dead of the night with nothing but the sound of crickets accompanying us.

He didn't say a word neither did I. There really was nothing to talk about between us. I guess if it were Nara they probably would've started arguing over something. Over the vows or whatnot, but I didn't have that with him and I doubt if he still had that with Nara after what he did to her.

I'd asked Nara if she wanted to be present for the Veiling Ceremony, since it was her wedding and not mine. We could use the opportunity to see if I could remain present in her mind while she was on the surface but Nara had insisted she wanted no part of the ceremony and would rather focus on mastering the new use of her magic around a restraint.
