Chapter 16 - Unexpected Attention

When flirty sparks meet a little harmless trouble.

Fah was sprawled across the library table, half-asleep over his textbooks, when he noticed a shadow fall across his notes.

"Hey there," a cheerful voice said.

Fah lifted his head to see a new face—a student from another faculty, tall, friendly, and with a wide, easy smile. "Hi," Fah mumbled, already feeling a bit flustered.

The newcomer leaned over the table, glancing at his notes. "You're Fah, right? I saw you in the robotics club. Mind if I ask a few questions about your project?"

Before Fah could respond, a familiar, dark-haired figure swooped in.

"I think he's fine," Tawan said, sliding into the chair beside Fah with effortless confidence, his presence immediately dominating the space. "Unless you're trying to steal my partner?"

Fah blinked, his cheeks warming. "Tawan—he just—"

Tawan's smirk widened. "Relax. I'm kidding… mostly."

The newcomer laughed awkwardly and stepped back. "Oh, okay. Didn't mean to interrupt anything."

As soon as they left, Tawan leaned over, brushing a hand casually against Fah's arm. "You looked… possessive for a second there," he teased.

Fah snorted. "I wasn't—"

"You totally were," Tawan interrupted, voice low, teasing. "It's cute. Admit it."

Fah rolled his eyes, but he couldn't stop the small smile tugging at his lips. "Fine. Maybe a little."

Tawan grinned, leaning closer, their shoulders brushing. "Good. Because I like a little possessiveness—it keeps things interesting."

The rest of the afternoon was spent in playful proximity, books and laptops barely separating them. Every time Tawan touched his hand, leaned over his notes, or whispered a joke, Fah felt the little flutter in his chest—the kind that made focus impossible but happiness unavoidable.

As they packed up to leave, Tawan nudged him with a grin. "Next time, we're going to scare off anyone else who tries to talk to my engineer. Deal?"

Fah laughed, shaking his head. "Deal. But only if you promise not to tease me the whole way home."

Tawan smirked knowingly. "No promises."

And as they walked across campus side by side, Fah realized that a little jealousy, a little teasing, and a lot of closeness was exactly the kind of chaos he didn't want to escape.
