Arasaka Tower, B2, Night City Regional Net Department.

"Damn Faraday, he's so unreliable and brought trouble."

"Looks like we'll have to invite him for a 'cup of coffee,'" the female superior said. "I can't take the blame for this. Test failed, chrome missing—this is all thanks to your terrible idea!"

The blamed corpo was in a lower position. He stood respectfully, appearing submissive, but in his heart, he had cursed his female superior a thousand times. Although she appeared furious, she was actually more flustered inside.

She was racking her brain on how to write a presentable incident report and how to cleverly distance herself, pushing the responsibility onto her subordinate.

The subordinate, looking at the monitor screen on the first floor, was unexpectedly overjoyed. He spoke in a very neurotic voice. "Look! A cyberpunk! It delivered itself right to us! There's always a way out!"

The female superior turned her chair to face the screen, also revealing a look of delight. "Good! Very good! Now, restart the combat data collection operation! Oh, and we have another small bonus this time.

The only survivor among the experimental hackers sent outside the Blackwall—the little girl who escaped. Quickly collect all the 'resources she mined' from outside the Blackwall! Whether she lives or dies doesn't matter, just extract quickly!"

"Understood!"

Maine's body was clearly larger than Arasaka's combat mechs, making the first-floor lobby feel relatively cramped for him. Yet, Maine could still quickly and precisely maneuver to the mech's side. His giant mechanical arms effortlessly tore off the mech's missile launcher.

This scene greatly boosted his team's morale. Just moments ago, the four of them were truly pinned down by two mechs. Forget about defeating them; they were lucky they weren't forced out of Arasaka Tower. Their light weapons weren't completely ineffective, but they couldn't cause significant damage to the mechs.

As soon as Maine joined the battle, the situation immediately reversed. The heavy armored soldiers nearby even paused their shooting, adding immense psychological pressure on them.

Maine lifted off the ground, ascending, his back against the first-floor lobby ceiling, extending both hands and activating his magnetic field gravity.

The mech's self-weight multiplied. It wasn't designed to withstand such immense weight. The load-bearing part, similar to a human spine, cracked, broke, and collapsed. The two nearby heavy armored soldiers were also affected by the magnetic field gravity.

Their alloy protective armor, which was supposed to protect them, became a weapon that crushed them. Flesh and bones were brutally compressed onto the ground, a sight even Jackie and his team found cruel.

However, they were highly skilled mercenaries and didn't dwell on it, immediately re-engaging in battle, steadily pushing back the remaining Arasaka soldiers. The other combat mech was also no match for Maine's chrome and was quickly dealt with.

Dorio was the calmest of the five. Heather chose to communicate with her. "Dorio, tell Maine to leave one alive. You need to get the access card to the basement. His gravity attack will crush the access card, too."

Dorio admired Heather somewhat. "You predicted that accurately. Maine almost wiped out the entire first floor… Maine! Leave one alive!"

Doggo floated in the air above Corpo Plaza, doing a backstroke, looking quite leisurely and comical, forming a strong contrast with the fierce battle happening inside Arasaka Tower. "Predicted accurately? A hot-blooded, battle-hungry guy like Maine, once he has a big weapon, wouldn't he use it to his heart's content? Does that even need predicting?"

Heather groaned. "Please, can you show some tension? We're attacking Arasaka Tower, okay?"

The sole remaining Arasaka assault soldier had already wet himself. He had witnessed a demon-like giant slaughter his elite Arasaka squad, with whom he had worked for a long time, in just a few minutes, like a force of nature.

His hand, extended to hand over the access card, trembled uncontrollably. As soon as Dorio took it, Rebecca's Iron Gall shotgun fired, blowing his head off. "Corpo dogs must die, hmph."

The two corpo dogs in the basement watched the screen. They were annoyed when they saw the four-person team break into the first floor. Later, they became excited when they saw the cyberpunk, then frightened when they saw their own people easily slaughtered.

And then these people chose to go to the basement in the elevator, which meant they would soon be coming for them, right? They had initially considered dealing with them immediately, but now the situation was wrong.

Perhaps the mercenary's compatibility with chrome far exceeded expectations, and things were spiraling out of control.

"This can't go on. We can't hide it anymore. We need reinforcements. You contact the head of the security department now, that man. Heh, honestly, I don't even know if I should call him a human..."

"Oh, okay, okay! Doing it now!"

Considering safety, Maine decided to go down first. But his current size was too large to fit into the elevator. To save time, everyone had to temporarily leave Maine on the first floor. With Heather's intelligence support, the four of them went directly to the second basement level. This area was close to Arasaka's intelligence hub, and the security personnel stationed there did not carry heavy weapons.

They were also afraid of damaging their own regional net servers, which gave Rebecca, Dorio, Jackie, and David enough room to maneuver. They could fight back and forth and gradually gain the upper hand.

Arasaka's advantage lay in weapons and numbers. Now that weapons were restricted, even with superior numbers, it was difficult to suppress the opponents in the crowded underground passages.

As for experience in a hail of bullets, that was definitely the domain of elite mercenaries. There was no need to mention the other three.

Even David, with only half a year of experience and cheap, low-level cyberware, became more proficient as he fought, given their superior technology and experience.

Under Heather's real-time guidance, they found Lucy's room with maximum efficiency. Dorio kicked open the glass door and shot the heads of two hackers. These two were pure hackers, lacking even basic combat skills. They just kept watching after someone violently burst in. Lucy's face was dirty and noticeably swollen; she had definitely been abused.

David was both angry and anxious. He shared his vision with Heather, who guided him on how to unplug the cables, which one to pull first. Lucy did not immediately regain consciousness after all connections were severed. David carried her the entire way.

The entire process was seamless. When they returned to the elevator entrance, they encountered some reinforcement troops who had just come down from upstairs, but they were even less formidable than the previous ones. After eliminating them all, they rushed into the elevator and returned to the first floor.

As soon as the elevator door opened, everyone saw Maine's hearty, smiling face. This smile was infectious, a reassuring psychological hint. Indeed, they hadn't expected that what seemed like a suicidal mission wasn't as difficult as they had anticipated...

Maine's smile suddenly vanished! It wasn't that he stopped smiling, but his face was no longer in its original position. Rather, his entire body was gone.

Maine, along with his exaggerated chrome, was directly slapped away by a monstrous force! Half of his body was embedded in the wall several meters away! In Maine's original spot, what appeared before everyone's eyes was an excessively modified Frankenstein monster.

He was estimated to be over two meters tall, his entire mechanical structure gleaming with a silver light. This light was chilling, as if just looking at it gave the illusion of being cut. Even his face was mechanical, and his two mechanical eyes glowed with a deathly red light.

Jackie was the first to speak, unconsciously lowering his voice. "Shit, it's Adam Smasher."
