Chapter 32 - Cafe

It was Sunday.

I woke up early, excitement already buzzing in my chest. Today was the delivery of my car.

When the transport truck finally pulled up, the process was simple. Signing a few papers, confirming the details.

At long last, my car had arrived. A brand-new premium SUV. Sleek lines, polished black paint that gleamed in the morning light.

I chose the bigger size on purpose. Not just for comfort, but so I could do dirty things in the back with my harem.

I pulled out my phone and dialed Hikari. She picked up after two rings.

"…Souta-kun?"

"Hikari-san. Good morning."

"Good morning. Did something happen?"

"My car just arrived."

"Really?"

"Do you want to come see it?"

"Just a second…"

A few minutes later, the front door opened and Hikari stepped outside. She wore a long short-sleeve dress that brushed her calves, the fabric swaying around her hips as she walked. Her dark hair was tied loosely, framing her face in a way that made her look both elegant and casual.

She looked like a ripe housewife.

"Good morning, Hikari-san."

She chuckled.

"Good morning again? Fufu. We just talked earlier."

"That's different."

"Is it?" She tilted her head, smiling softly.

Her gaze slid past me to the SUV parked at the curb.

"I thought you would be getting a sedan."

"An SUV is more comfortable. More space. Is Kotoha still sleeping?"

"Ah. She went out with her friends today."

"What a busy girl."

"Girls have a lot to talk about."

I nodded toward the car.

"Should we go somewhere together? For a test drive."

"I don't mind. Let me go change."

"Your clothes are fine, though?"

She paused, then looked at me with narrowed eyes, a teasing spark.

"I'll dress a little younger for you, Souta-kun."

"Are we couples again?"

Her laugh was quiet, soft.

"Playboy."

"Are you hitting on me?"

"No!"

Since Hikari went inside to change, I decided to change as well. I went for a more grown-up look. A crisp collared shirt with a knitted vest layered over it, paired with ironed trousers. The kind of outfit that would look good next to her.

I waited by my SUV, leaning against the door, the polished black surface reflecting the afternoon light.

When Hikari stepped out again, I gulped.

She had traded her housewife dress for something younger. Shorts that ended mid-thigh, showing off the elegant lines of her legs. A plain tank top clung softly to her figure, and an oversized dress shirt hung loose over it, sleeves rolled casually to her elbows.

Her hair framed her face just so, catching the sunlight, and in that moment she looked absolutely stunning.

"Kotoha?"

"Are you teasing me?"

I chuckled.

"Just kidding. Good morning, Hikari-san."

She smiled faintly, brushing her hair back behind her ear.

"A third good morning? Is this supposed to be a good omen?"

"I don't know. I just like saying hi to you."

"Fufu." She laughed softly, a warm, playful sound. "Shall we go?"

I opened the passenger door for her, and she slipped inside gracefully before I circled to the driver's side.

"Where are we going, Souta-kun?"

She asked as she fastened her seatbelt, her tone light but curious.

"Have you eaten yet? How about a café?"

"Let's go."

I turned the key, the SUV humming to life.

The drive was quiet, but not in a heavy way. Hikari sat with her legs crossed neatly, one hand resting on her lap, the other brushing her hair back whenever the breeze from the open window swept it forward.

We parked in front of a small café tucked on a side street. It wasn't anything fancy. Just a warm little place with ivy crawling up the brick walls and the smell of roasted beans drifting through the air.

I opened the door for her again, and she stepped out, her shorts catching the sunlight, her oversized shirt fluttering faintly in the breeze. For a moment, she looked less like someone's mother and more like a college girl meeting her boyfriend.

Inside, the café was cozy, lined with bookshelves and soft jazz playing overhead. We found a corner table by the window.

The waiter came by, and Hikari scanned the menu, tilting her head thoughtfully.

"Mmm… everything looks sweet. It's been a long time since I've ordered something like this."

"What do you want?" I asked.

"…Strawberry parfait."

"Are you a child?"

"Don't tease me. What about you, Souta-kun?"

"Black coffee since I am a grown up."

"Whatever."

A warm smile clung on to her lips. She was obviously enjoying the outing, making no attempts to hide it.

When the parfait arrived, it was tall and colorful, layered with cream, syrup, and fresh strawberries. Hikari held the spoon delicately, her movements graceful as ever. She took a small bite, her lips glistening with cream.

"Mm… it's good…" she murmured, covering her mouth with her hand like she was embarrassed.

I leaned forward. "You've got cream on your lip."

"Eh?" She reached up with her napkin, fumbling.

I chuckled, leaning closer instead.

"Here." My thumb brushed her lower lip, wiping the cream away before I licked it clean.

Her eyes widened, her whole face glowing crimson. "…Souta-kun!"

"What? I helped."

"You can't just do that to a woman, you know?"

"But you're Hikari-san."

"Fine. I'll let you win."
